I truly LIKE this video. Good lighting, excellent editing, short in duration, informative, a proper start-middle and an end. Normal voice, proper language, not wanting to sound hyped or look like a fool like some (especially on thumbnails). I also very much like your at ease attitude and genuine smile and keen interest in the hobby. 73, take care.

Vy congrats, OM, on your first QSO and attendant thrill. Your choice of the QCX+ was an excellent one. Same circuit at the original QCX and the subsequent QCX mini but in a "real radio" format. I have two - one 40m version and a 20m edition to be built. I also have a 20m QCX Mini to be built but I bought it for its "shirt pocket" novelty.
Anyway, your maiden QSO is a seminal experience/memory that will remain with you throughout your ham radio "career" and thank you for sharing!

This receiver is sensitive. Connected my QSX+ and FT818 on the same antenna with a Y. They heard the same signals equally. Hard to tell even on the weakest signals. I have to recommend the QCX+ Very Highly.

Thanks Mike - glad you enjoyed the video - and yes, I had a metal case for both my QCX mini (20m) and plus (40m) but I'm sure they work well with other enclosures. They've been a very interesting and enjoyable project for me and I'm having fun using them now. Thanks for getting in touch and I hope all your projects go well! 73 Mortimer (G4BSK)

Greeting from South Africa :-) Stumbled across your very enjoyable presentation of the QCX+ and this note to compliment you on your efforts! I am close to finishing a QCX (original) on 30m obtained back in 2017 and also have a 40M QCX+ waiting to be built together with several other projects... Fingers crossed I will be as lucky as you with making a contact once final assembly is completed as has also been about 40 years since I was active using CW . Looking forward to following your 'radio active' adventures for sure! Stay safe and as always, remember to KEEP SMILING - 73 Nigel

Greetings Nigel - thank you so much for getting in touch - it's very encouraging to hear that other people are following a similar path, I guess there may be many more of us who have taken such a break. Since making my first contact, I've realised that the most important things are getting the radio set up properly and (the most important factor) the antenna. I've recently experimented with making half wave antennas with matching units and traps and am now making lots of contacts on 40m and 20m with my QCX radios. Hoping to try going mobile soon and getting to some higher ground. I really hope your radio build goes well and that you get lots of enjoyment making and using them. I really appreciate your feedback! All best wishes 73 Mortimer (G4BSK)
