Just for future episodes, you should probably turn off the captions, since they are fan made and not Alan's official dialogue. A lot of the cool storytelling and moments in this series come from the fact that the characters have no dialogue, and the story is told purely through the animation. Hopes this helps in the future!

Tips from an Alan becker fan: 1. Turn off the captions. They are fan made and not canon. They also detract from a lot of the emotional moment that Alan's videos have. 2. Don't watch animation vs. League of Legends yet! I won't spoil why, but trust me on this, you need to watch AvM shorts season 1. 3. Don't watch AvA season 2 either. A lot of the colored stick figures's (Red, Blue, etc.) personalities start from AvM shorts. In short, here's the order: AvA season 1 (1-4) -> AvM (You're here) -> Animation vs. TH-cam -> AvM shorts season 1 (ep. 1-14) -> Animation vs. League of Legends -> AvM shorts season 2 (ep. 15-19) -> AvA season 2 (5-8) -> AvM shorts season 3 (ep. 20-30) -> Animation vs. Mario-> Animation vs. Arcade Games -> AvA season 3 (9-10, ongoing) -> Actual Shorts (ongoing, optional) ->AvM shorts season 4 (ep. 31-35, ongoing) -> Infuencer arc (ep. 1, ongoing) -> Green Stick Figure channel vids (ongoing, optional)
Reasons for the order (if anyone cares): AvY can be inserted basically anyware before infuencer arc, so I decided to follow the release order. AvLoL has to be after AvM shorts S1 due to (SPOILERS). AvM shorts S2 doesn't have a story line, but I placed it before AvA S2 to be a bit of a break between big arcs. I could have done somthing similar between AvA S2 and AvM S3 (maybe AvMario?), but AvM S3 is what everyone wants to see a reaction for, so I placed it earlier. AvMario and AvAG are now the last break before the ongoing stuff (AvA S3, Actual shorts, AvM S4, Influencer arc and Stickfiguregreen). I think the captions kinda ruin the experience because Alan's animations are great at conveying stuff with just body movements and stuff, it doesnt need voicelines or anything
personally, while i understand if the captions do make the videos more entertaining for you, i agree with the very loud majority that they do kind of hinder the experience, alan is VERY good at writing stories and conveying meaning without using any dialogue and the captions really do just get in the way of some very emotional moments later on, also the fact that they're fanmade shows, they're cool but they've got a lot of mistakes it's your choice, obviously, whether to keep them or not, but personally i don't think they're a good idea.

Funny you should mention Pixar vibes, I believe one of the reasons we still have Animator vs Animation today is because Alan took advice from one of his teachers and turned down a Pixar contract. Anyway, everyone else has already recommended turning off the captions and given good reasons why so I’ll say a few other things! There isn’t really any established timeline that all the different series fit neatly onto, so I generally recommend watching standalone videos and whole seasons in release order. For example: episodes for season 2 of the main series began airing while season 1 of the Minecraft series was still ongoing, so I’d recommend finishing season 1 of the Minecraft series before watching season 2 of the main series. Likewise, any standalone videos that released during a season, I’d recommend watching after finishing that season. This is especially recommended in regards to Animation vs League of Legends, which is presented as a standalone video but depicts plot crucial events that are later build upon by season 3 of the Minecraft series; pretty much everyone agrees that AvLeague shouldn’t be watched until after finishing at least season 1 of the Minecraft series (possibly season 2 as well) but also highly recommends watching it before season 3. Currently there’s the main series (which is in season 3), the Minecraft series (which is in season 4), the Education series (which is in its first season), the Influencer series (which debuted last week), and the Actual Shorts (which aren’t a series so much as a collection), plus numerous standalone videos in between. Multiple games have had mods inspired by these videos! Two that I know of are Friday Night Funkin’ and Rivals of Aether. Due to Covid, there was no official TH-cam Rewind for 2020, but a bunch of animators made their own TH-cam Rewind that year and several of them paid homage to a particular episode in season 2 of the main series. I think either this video or the next one (Animation vs TH-cam) were the last videos that Alan made on his own; after that he a team behind him. This team includes other animators known for stickfigure animations: Oxob, Terkoiz, Shuriken, Hyun, and I’m sure others I’ve forgotten. The team also includes composers, and multiple episodes over the last few years have had original music! A few commenters have already mentioned GildedGuy, another stickfigure animator who has his own series. One episode actually references Alan’s characters, but I’d recommend watching the GildedGuy series on its own merit, it’s truly breathtaking. Fun fact, the whole thing was supposed to end with episode 3. Alan talks about it in an anniversary video. (It’s only recently that the main series has been grouped into seasons, and until then I think many considered what is now “episode 4 of season 1” to be more of a soft reboot than a continuation.) I hope you continue to enjoy this series! (Really though please do turn off the captions 😅)
While the captions are funny, they tend to detract from the more dramatic and emotional parts of the story (which Alan Becker's videos have A LOT of, especially as the story progresses and the characters get more depth). I (and many other fans of the series, it seems) recommend turning captions off for future episodes.
Although the fan captions for Alan Becker's videos are entertaining and can make for a fun rewatch, I recommend keeping them off as they can also be distracting and clash tonally when things get more serious. I enjoy Alan Becker's silent storytelling, and I feel a bit gets taken away from that when the captions are basically just making the characters say out loud what they're doing. there are maps in Minecraft you can check out and its not just about building its mainly about exploring the world you generate and there are tons of Modpacks to make the game either more difficult or more interesting.
5:07 you can plant a tree anywhere there is dirt or grass or dirt variants, you can place dirt on top of a tree so yes 6:21 it is kind of still minecraft, however there are some things that they can do you can’t do in the real game, such as throw tnt or rotating windmill like that. People have made entire computers using Redstone, which is like the game’s version of electricity and code. 11:15 you can shoot arrows out of a dispenser. But you can’t pick up skeleton’s arrows otherwise you would be able to farm arrows from them and the devs said no 13:05 no you can’t just hold a dispenser like that. But the sticks can do strange things 13:30 it’s not just Skyrim. Works in minecraft too. 14:55 turn off captions, you weren’t supposed to know that yet… also herobrine is a fan made minecraft character, Steve with white eyes, and has… unnatural(?) powers 18:35 that’s a tree sapling, fishing rod, and stick. By the way, the confusion with Terraria is most likely because it is being viewed in 2d. Minecraft is a 3D game, but here on the computer screen it is showed as 2D. I recommend playing minecraft sometime! Also, there is more Animation vs Minecraft series has continued currently up to episode 35 I think, and it would be great to see you react to it! Captions are user created, not Alan created. do not take them as actual word. The beauty of Alan's animations are that he conveys all he needs through the animations itself.
I know that literally everyone's said it already, but the subtitles were not put there by Alan. They are entirely fan-made, and thus are neither necessary or recommended for the enjoyment of this series. So please, do yourself a favour and disregard anyone who tells you to turn on subtitles.

Im one of the people who asked to not have the captions, and my reasoning is that the videos were MADE to be watched without dialogue

Alan Becker's Content was made to prove that even Silent, non Facial Expression, Stickfigures can be extremely expressive and emotional
And the Captions kinda go against this whole idea
And the worst is, not only are they Non Canon, but they're mostly over the top, Cheesy (in an unenjoyable way) and some of them are stdaightup Wrong, Alan did make a video recting to these captions and did demonstrate a few Errors
Also if the Videos were made to be silent, they would have had Captions of their own, in fact SC gets some Moment using his own Canon Captions, but only sometimes, showing how strong the cgaracters are without need to talk

Captions are user created, not Alan created. do not take them as actual word. The beauty of Alan's animations are that he conveys all he needs through the animations itself.
I know that literally everyone's said it already, but the subtitles were not put there by Alan. They are entirely fan-made, and thus are neither necessary or recommended for the enjoyment of this series. So please, do yourself a favour and disregard anyone who tells you to turn on subtitles.

Man season 3 makes everything look so lame in comparison. And the original+season 1 and 2 are still AMAZING. Just goes to show how much he’s improved over the years. I’ve been watching since season 1 was being released, now we’re on 4.
I have watched Alan's vid since AvA 4, but AvM shorts really started Alan's modern era.
1:50 Yeah, captions aren’t canon. They’re infamous in this series. They were made by someone who isn’t even remotely connected to Alan Becker. The stick figures are already so expressive without using words because Alan is just a genius like that, so adding captions just because ruins it.
