I like the way he dictates the game with his manipulation of the opposing team. You can see him using a string of short passes to push and pull the opposition out of their defensive shape. He’s looking beyond the first few passes and he’s trying to run the show like Xavi or Pirlo. I’m no Man Utd fan but England haven’t had a player like him since Scholes.
England team still too hesitant and cowardly until they are at risk of going out. In the first half, the back 4 were in their own world, and forgot about the rest of the team with their side passes.

He needs to take risk and tell his forwards to make runs behind the lines make through balls find those early passes before the opposition notices any disturbance or else it is just a normal midfielder doing side ways pass although his ball winning capacity is really good and he reads the danger well but needs to grow in final half of opposition
