Always frustrated me for years when trying to do a realistic career mode, I end up having the best attack in the league followed by the worse defence in the league. 7-6 score lines aren’t fun, much rather it be 1-0 / 2-1 as it’s just more rewarding and fun

Just some genuine input - when I used to game, I would play in Division One from FIFA's 12 right through to 18. Key lesson I learnt - defensive positioning. Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.
Well why care if people buy it and donate ( majority) into ultimate team! Why improve… you can literally release same game 10 or 20 year… and add 1 cutscene every 10 years… like they been doing!

When developing a new (or updated) version of a game (and really, building a updated version of any software) -- you aren't supposed to be starting from scratch or taking popular/successful things away from a previous build -- but rather, add onto it. I’m so happy I haven’t bought the game yet. Genuinely thought this year would be different, but seeing the same gameplay and the same brainless AI AGAIN puts me off already. What is EA doing? The AI never was a problem until like fifa 20 and since then it‘s absolutely horrific. It‘s destroying the fun of career mode. Matt I suggest increase the shot error to 70 and that makes it more realistic because the cpu does not miss in this game and if you want do it for yourself aswell it makes it more intense and intresting
To be honest, you should not change the sliders for their attacking or anything, just increase the defending ones for the cpu, because scoring goals looks easy but your defending in the Sevilla game was awful tbh, you should play 3 at the back if you want to have Zinchenko in the mid because your defense is all over the place. Maybe gegenpress is not the tactic that fits you perfectly, you should for sure play around with the game and not just downgrade the cpu attack, just increase their defending... It is a fun career mode when there is also struggling moments and games that you lose because I am sure everyone is tired of all the perfect career modes on TH-cam that take Wrexham to Treble winners in 5 season meanwhile winning every single game... But I also got to say, I love the career mode so far, every Arsenal one you do is a banger, been watching you since FIFA 13 AS Monaco Career Mode and just keep it going bro...

I've adjusted the sliders massively, and the pace still feels so broken. I've been blown past by so many midfielders who just seem to have secret jet engines, flying from midfield to goal with no defenders able to get anywhere near them, including Tomori who has a 90 sprint speed. I even changed User Sprint speed to 40, CPU Sprint Speed to 30, and still they hit turbo and absolutely fly by.
Why have they removed the intro cutscene of the walkout etc that's just dumb. People who play career mode are into immersion. And it has nothing to do with ultimate team as last year FUT was already quick when it came to kick-off... I don't think they will re-add it as I'm currently playing through EA Play Pro and it still hasn't been added back...

As you mentioned attack is overpowered. Defending is kinda non existant.. the game looks so arcady even worse than fifa 23, and that is bad enough..each year I have noticed AI defending and defending in general has got worse and worse to near non existant. Even with 5 at the back your defenders just stand there sitting ducks. Also not sure about this year but on fifa 23 when a ball was played through to an attacker and when you select your nearest dfender the switch would take awhile giving the attacker a head start like the defender would step back then you were playing catch up with a slow defender agfainst a pacey attacker. All this is generating more goals during amatch, and this is what I think EA and arcady game with loads of goals to suit FUT. It is not a simulation game just a arcade game to have fun hence why there isn't much attention nor love towards career mode because why would EA care about career mode when all they want is arcady and fun which is happening FUT and where all the ,omey is. We really need a developer to step up and create a real football simulation from the ground up. yea deffo, use some sliders to slow the game down. Because of all this and players skating around football, it has become basketball and ice skating as one sport, haha

I had to comment on this video as it's perfectly highlighting why the newer FIFA/FC titles are no fun to play. 1. First of all the games are way too focused on the attacking aspect of the game, meaning that almost every 1v1 with the keeper is a certain goal, which shows in the ridiculous score lines. 2. The midfield doesn't care about defending - and the defenders are too easy to go around which leads to my first point. 3. The physics of the game is weird, it's too "smooth" - I miss the stiffness of older titles. I'm still playing FIFA 18 - I feel that game rewards you being tactical, for learning how to do long shots, a 1v1 with the keeper is not always a certain goal, and the goals feel more "real" = more fun. Back in the day I bought FIFA 21 and in my first season with Liverpool on the highest difficulty, in the Prem alone, I scored over 60 goals with Firmino and 40 something with Salah and Mane each. That was no fun, it didn't even feel easy, it just felt strange and unrewarding. It's unrealistic when you score 7+ goals a game. Anyways. Great video Matt, I've been watching your stuff for years now. It didn't surprise me at all, that you decided to bench many first team players in your first CL game against a great side ;)

The exact same kind of games happen in my career mode. The defensive cpu for both teams are maybe two or three difficulty levels behind the attack and it’s is frustrating, I payed 70 dollars for this and can’t have a proper football math. Still, I loved laughing at that ridiculous Sevilla game!
To help w Zinchenko stepping up just use fix one of the game plans to have him step back down or give the team a defensive shape and when you lose possession just switch from balanced to defensive or whichever gameplan you altered and vice versa for gaining possession
One thing I've discovered is that i think there is a very obvious kick off glitch whenever i would score the opponents would score instantly or get really close to scoring and there was just nothing i could do about it
Not trying to be that guy but for some feedback I coach in real life and the reason you get scored on so much is because you switch to the defender and bring them out of position and they punish you for it every single time. Watched you move your defender from blocking a pass and chased the ball and ran into your other defender that was already blocking ball and you react to it and rage and saying it’s not you. I suggest turning difficulty down or paying more attention to the positioning of the defender before moving them out of place because it’s making a hole for them to score on you.
Everyone can play how they like. But the feeling of making tactical changes while simming in tactical view and seeing the team perform them and come back to win… it feels so nice.. true manager mode.

Same thing going on in my Celtic career. Ever since the full release of the game on next gen in fifa 22 to current date, the gameplay really is the worst it’s ever been in terms of defending and goalkeeping. Clearly when they were scanning the players they weren’t scanning actual professional players.

Matt tweak the sliders as soon as possible. Increase the Marking to 100 for both user and cpu, decrease drastically the pass speed (20-25) and increase to 80 the shot error and pass error to 75-80. Also increase the first touch control error to 90 or 100. I have experience to sliders for over 10 years these steps will help a lot.
Ea need to do something its been since fifa 22 defending has been like this and defending is too difficult and it has been for far too long they need to make defenders more intelligent therefore it will also make it more difficult for us playing the game to score goals

I think you should play the matches off camera and then do your commentary over the matches (as live) once you've edited what clips you want in the video. I think talking to the audience while playing the matches is taking away from your concentration and taking some focus away during the actual games themselves
Just a thought.. are EA purposely breaking career because theres no additional money they can gain from it. The more the customers soebding in career the less time they spend in UT where they can spend more money and more money on packs... lets destroy career, lets kill it and give us the optimal chance of more money when everyone leaves career mode for ultimate team. Theres an agenda from EA, there has to be. The game mode cannot get worse like this, it was better is FIFA 14. They have purposely broken it, neglected it and its blatent to me. The no pre match walkouts is really bugging me. Such a small thing but really made big matches feel special to play.
It’s probably the worst decision they’ve ever made. It’s game breaking for me. You always had the option to skip this so why have they removed this.

Put the sliders for gks up so it makes goals feel more earned for you and the ai and reduces radiculous scorelines

Definitely need to adjust sliders on this game. It's unplayable out of the box.

To help w Zinchenko stepping up just use fix one of the game plans to have him step back down or give the team a defensive shape and when you lose possession just switch from balanced to defensive or whichever gameplan you altered and vice versa for gaining possession

One thing I've discovered is that i think there is a very obvious kick off glitch whenever i would score the opponents would score instantly or get really close to scoring and there was just nothing i could do about it
Not trying to be that guy but for some feedback I coach in real life and the reason you get scored on so much is because you switch to the defender and bring them out of position and they punish you for it every single time. Watched you move your defender from blocking a pass and chased the ball and ran into your other defender that was already blocking ball and you react to it and rage and saying it’s not you. I suggest turning difficulty down or paying more attention to the positioning of the defender before moving them out of place because it’s making a hole for them to score on you.

Everyone can play how they like. But the feeling of making tactical changes while simming in tactical view and seeing the team perform them and come back to win… it feels so nice.. true manager mode.

Same thing going on in my Celtic career. Ever since the full release of the game on next gen in fifa 22 to current date, the gameplay really is the worst it’s ever been in terms of defending and goalkeeping. Clearly when they were scanning the players they weren’t scanning actual professional players.
Seeing the amount of nonsense in this game in such a short video is severely putting me off buying it. It looks an absolute mess. Sad there are no good football games anymore (aside from FM).
Selfishly, I wish you did a weekend episode. I hate waiting the whole weekend haha. Great fun content as always! If you manage to get some suitable sliders would you share them so I can check them out?

I don't get why as a paying customer we need to toggle the sliders so much to make the game realistic. I have found slowing the tempo of the game helps balance it better.
Watching you vs Everton almost feels tame compared how my Everton career mode has started, 5 games in and yet to get a win yet somehow I’m actually quiet loving it because we are playing decent football yet I’m failing to score

Matt tweak the sliders as soon as possible. Increase the Marking to 100 for both user and cpu, decrease drastically the pass speed (20-25) and increase to 80 the shot error and pass error to 75-80. Also increase the first touch control error to 90 or 100.
I have experience to sliders for over 10 years these steps will help a lot.

Ea need to do something its been since fifa 22 defending has been like this and defending is too difficult and it has been for far too long they need to make defenders more intelligent therefore it will also make it more difficult for us playing the game to score goals

I think talking to the audience while playing the matches is taking away from your concentration and taking some focus away during the actual games themselves

Just a thought.. are EA purposely breaking career because theres no additional money they can gain from it. The more the customers soebding in career the less time they spend in UT where they can spend more money and more money on packs... lets destroy career, lets kill it and give us the optimal chance of more money when everyone leaves career mode for ultimate team. Theres an agenda from EA, there has to be. The game mode cannot get worse like this, it was better is FIFA 14. They have purposely broken it, neglected it and its blatent to me. FIFA 22 & 23 where unplayable. I resulted to simulation and treating it like FM. I had to use my imagination, and conside it director of football mode. I hire a manager, invent a culture and philosophy, do transfers and spectate. I only did this because playing games isnt fun, not with those scorelines. The fact they have rebranded and continued to pump out the same dross. Its sad, the game is dead. I came here to see if things have changed, i have not bought FC24 and will not be buying it. Disgrace!

Mate I can remember back to TIF having more feature than FC24. That's how will this is. Over 2 decades have passed..
And we keep paying our money for this bullshit every year for what… a mini update plus new squads and kits. I couldn’t agree more, but tbh it’s not like there’s any other game on the market that’s even trying to compete with EA.
