There is much to learn from the Deaf community. I discuss a portion of this in my book (Chapter 4) Singing Secrets A Practical Guide to Interpretations. I specialize in interpretations (which are technical ways to use various expressions to communicate effectively). I believe that the only language that is "universal" is an expression (Audible or Physical expressions). I've taken notice that the Deaf and Hard of hearing communities tend to be more aware of their surroundings, and can read body language (expressions) better than those of us with five senses. Thanks for sharing personal struggles, and challenges with languages and communication. The COVID-19 pandemic and employment were great testimonies and perspectives. I've also taken notice of the use of more Sign language in recent Hollywood movies. I'm glad to see that there is a greater presence of Deaf Interpreters. We need more of them in our working-class communities. Thanks for sharing this fascinating conversation.
