Personally I like your team work. You guys sure are a true partnership. I can tell you both have excellent communication with each other as well, the kids are lucky to have 2 such loving and empathic parents guiding them. 🥰
Great vlog . A coupla hints , we carry a thermos bottle of hot water when stringing new lines/ or repairing lines , dip the tubing ends in the hot water to soften them , they go on the fittings easier . Run your main as close to the cooking area as possible , less carrying sap . Make your tap lines from main line to tap longer for future tapping . Tap on South side of the trees , they get more sun/heat and will run more sap . Luv Ya 🍁🍁
How did Jim Baird get so lucky to find Torrie? She is always game for adventure, and always knows, or else researches and learns how to do her sheeeeet out there!
They make a great team, gotta love a Woman that wears a tool belt and knows how to use the tools, especially a tape measure, comes in handy when cutting 4by4's..
Good luck with the sugar maple season. I worked a couple years on maplefarm. Do yourself a favor, next time you drive by a maplefarm, stop by and have a quick look on how they run lines. You will learn a lot in less than a minute!
Good stuff guys, just put some taps in today myself. A few tips for next year. Pick yourself up some mainline wire, run it first and then wire tie the tubing to it. That way it stays tight and doesn’t sag when sap is in it. Also, the three way tee part you are putting in the tree is actually for holding the spout in the off season. You don’t want to put two holes on the same vein as you will lose most out the lower hole and have twice as much non conductive wood in the future. When sap is running good you should get ballpark a litre of syrup every day with what you have. Cheers
Maple Festival up at Whitetop/Grayson Highlands (Virginia) this month. Too cold for me to go. They how they do tapping for those who are interested. Hope you & your family have a really good week.
Right on guys that was great and I lurned a couple of tricks from the comments👍 I didn't know you live so close I'm in Sudbury. I will be doing this also on my property on Manitoulin island. You have a beautiful place.👍
Loved the whole video, what a dream location you have there. Use the tubing in the summer to irrigate your container garden. no shortage of canoes, that's for sure. want to see your subscibers go over 110k mark, it' will be soon...keep on keeping on..
This video makes me even more excited for syrup season. Tubing looks like a fun way to collect sap and watch it run through the lines. I've only ever tapped trees with buckets.
Just finished putting in 500 taps at my friends operation in Upper Michigan. The sap is flowing good this week. One suggestion I'd have is to wrap your tubing around your anchor tree at the top of the slope. They sell end clips to loop it around the tree. It makes a good solid line that way. Have fun. It's a great hobby to be involved with in my retirement.
It’s neat to see the process of harvesting to what we see on the table. I live in Western Canada where this isn’t “an every day” thing here. Maple trees are not as plentiful here. When does the snow actually melt there? April, May? I have never been to Ontario during winter/early spring. I live in Chinook country. This time of year ( early spring) for us - one day we have snow, the next a Chinook blows in, melts all the snow . The fallowing day we have motorcycles and sidewalk chalk out .🤷🏻♀️Ontario is absolutely beautiful!!
Thanks a lot, I remember being in the Chilcotens and experiencing that. There was a lot of snow and a warm wind and it all melted it and blew it away and the temps came right up. It was pretty cool. Here in what they call Ontario’s near north, we get snow a bit the semiconductors week of November and it stays into April. We sometimes get a snowfall in April but it’ll only last a day or two on the ground. That’s around when all the lakes break up too, usually not to long after Easter.
i'm sitting on the edge of my couch waiting for the rest of beyond the height of land lol this was a cool video to lol you could run that hill in your canoe keep up the great work thanks
WoW !!! Some serious Magnetawan Maple Madness goin’ down !!! Calls are coming in that they can smell that boiling sweetness all the way to Chikopi. I’ll bet the trees all think they are being wired for WiFi. Flapjacks are on the griddle.
@@JimBairdAdventurer You may have gotten more snow than us. Some of the trees we tapped are already showing ground at the base. Also the sap is running pretty slowly.
@@JimBairdAdventurer can’t wait, What a fun group of people to camp with! I’d be really pumped if there was a robinet and Baird brothers summer excursion video!
Learning how to get maple syrup from a tree using a cistern method. You haven't quite got to my favorite part yet. You know the part, home made pancakes, buttered, on our plates with maple syrup drizzled over top. Oh my goodness.
@@JimBairdAdventurer I have seen your video where the tent was down by the river, Tori had a fire going, some chairs, seem like you were cooking Maple Syrup? I try to watch some of your past videos. Then when I get to my Son-in- Law, I'll say, look what Jim & Ted caught. He loves fishing. He just reaches in & picked that "1" up out of the river. He was standing there, wading. How lucky can you get. I would love some pancakes with maple syrup.
I just started getting flowage from the maples 🍁. I'm along the 45⁰ N Parallel in Minnesota. Also, will you have a numbering system drawn out, so you know where to put the tubing next year and tubing won't be wasted? I suppose that the 🌳 trees will grow and get the measurements off a bit. I only ask because you are cutting the tube to adhere to your specific length.
You know this system is in use in all kinds of large scale operations that tap hundreds of trees and more so, I dint think you’ve pin pointed some major flaw. The deer will just walk around or under.
Thanks a lot for watching. Please let me know what your favourite part of the video is and don’t forget to subscribe. Have a great day.

Seeing husband and wife working together as a team and cute little North romping around.
I agree! Watching you two work together inspiring.
Another great video Jim ! thank you for sharing!!

Tori doing all the work. She's the brains behind the scenes huh Jim?
She actually is with the tubing set up although I’m the guy who films most stuff so, that’s still work and not as much fun
You guys are awesome! Almost 100K!!! Big halooos from Alberta! 👍😎🇨🇦👌
Haaaaaaa I love Tori’s ah shit at the end!! I love you both! Great setup! ❤️❤️❤️
Haha, I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful spot ya got there Jim! Hope you have video's of the whole sizzurp process , I'd enjoy a tree to pancake run-thru.
I love maple syrup, fascinating to see you tapping the trees and how you run lines to collect the sap.
Great job you guys! I hope it works well and you collect lots of that Canada Juice! Thanks for sharing!
Perfect weather for Sap! It’s a learning curve and lots of work, but so rewarding! Delicious 😋 Syrup
Indeed! This is our fifth year doing it on our property and we love it.

Working smart for the syrup!
That’s the plan!
I'll be watching for the progress!
Very cool guys!
Finally a reasonable video length
Did you like this one?
Wow wish we had that here in Alberta looks good and less work .Good luck on a great harvest. .North is looking great . beautiful dog

Weird was just thinking about you guys and your maple syrup..then you popped up making maple syrup
You read your minds!
It’s beautiful where you guys live. Me and my husband are moving to new Brunswick in a couple of years to start a homestead.

Sounds awesome. I made some maple syrup today. I tapped 3 of my bosses trees
Love your dog. When is your next video of Beyond the height of land. Enjoyed your video of tapping maple trees.
Next week!

Maple syrup is awesome. We do it here in Virginia believe it or not, very mountainous here so our temps are up and down. Also, walnut syrup is great.

its starting to look like summer in tahoe, looks like full on winter still in magnetawan
We still have over a foot of snow and it’s snowing now! But doing is just around the corner
nice and hi from maine u s a
Whose idea was this?. Does maple run in all seasons.? I am fascinated. This could be a new business venture guys? Right? Big up to the Baird fam🇺🇸🇯🇲
I think it could be a very short run this year owing to not much snow and that really warm day we just had.
Oh no
@@JimBairdAdventurer You may have gotten more snow than us. Some of the trees we tapped are already showing ground at the base. Also the sap is running pretty slowly.
Jim how long does the season run for tapping trees? I am in Sudbury and I want to tap a couple birches.
Depends on the year but the sap runs when the temp is above freezing in the day but still drops below freezing at night.
@@JimBairdAdventurer Thanks a lot for the info.

I did, working on it now

Yum!
OMG...Tori, did you say "Toight like a toiger?" Are you an Austin Powers fan? 😂 " I love G-O-O-O-O-L-D!" Classic! 👍
Do you collect the syrup for yourselves ? Has it been a snowy winter for you guys.? Autumn just starting out here in New Zealand.
We collect sap and then boils it down into syrup and we don’t sell it so, ya.
❤️🇨🇦
Looks like the line system would work pretty good ...till the deer blast through and rip them out just a tought
You know this system is in use in all kinds of large scale operations that tap hundreds of trees and more so, I dint think you’ve pin pointed some major flaw. The deer will just walk around or under.
@@JimBairdAdventurer we have so many deer here they cause all kinds of problems
Wont the liquid (syrup) freeze at night time at least? Maybe it doesnt matter ?
It does, if you toss the ice floating in the tip, your boil down time will be a lot less and the part that freezer has no sugar content
Odds North knocks the lines down?
Hell just run under them
Have you ever tried birch syrup?
tooooooooight
What about hungry bear.Dont they raid barrel
It’s basically just water, you have to boil it down a lot before it’s syrup so, no they don’t
Amazed the deer don't ripall your intertwine tubing out..or you or north
I suppose they could but north just runs under it as it’s pretty high and if I accidentally walked into it for whatever reason I’d just put it back
Frozen tubes wild animals breaking the tubes... hopefully not can't wait to see the results 😬
Hopefully a moose don't run through there. I usually see individual buckets hanging from each tree.
That's going to be cool never seen it made from tree sap before just sugar cane
