I got a question: where are the Orangutan during the long winters?

Most zoos have both indoor areas and outdoor areas for animals to get out of weather, for privacy and for zoo staff to isolate and work with individual animals.

sometimes people fall over when they are walking. I would be seriously concerned about the liability of having hundreds of pounds of orangutan falling on someone from several stories above. if that happened, the person would definitely die. maybe I'm disillusioned by the recent titan submersible incident, but I would opt for safety nets at the very least. even if it is extremely unlikely, wait for long enough, and it will happen.

thats actually a problem for Orangs in the wild, many of them have broken bones from falls, though add to that, they use swaying on younger, thinner trucked trees as a method to get around their homes as well

Yeah this seems like something they would approve in the 60s, but I'm ok with people having to pay attention to their surroundings a bit more. They should put up an "At your own risk" sign for those areas.

One would assume that orangutans are far more skilled at navigating such heights, but if they have not previously had these type of structures available to them, the structures are very new to them and these captive animals could have issues.

@@chrisgraham2904 skill they have, certainly, but as I said, falls in the wild are actually quite common for Orangs, and many will have broken bones from falls in their lifetimes.

That’s a stuffed animal. The real creatures are still refusing to use the new exhibit. What sort of journalist are you?
