I've only had one session so far on my 4m and had a similar experience. Flying on land is easy and intuitive. So much so that I had visions of stowing and shredding swell on my first session. Flying one handed while balancing on a narrow DW board in swell with an ADD, coked-up hummingbird as a power source had me pretty humbled. Looking forward to taming the little beast because I can definitely see the rewards. Thanks for the review!
I agree, it will be worth it. One thing that someone mentioned was that a smaller board creates more resistance in that water which translates to more power on the parawing. I like the theory behind that thought. My downwind board was very efficient which sometimes led to loosing power on the parawing 😮
So awesome seeing your friend Zach excited over it! I haven’t seen many sports that can put a smile on someone’s face no matter the age quite like foiling has
I noticed the same thing about the added control with two hands on the bar. I also felt more forward speed vs being pull to the side more with one hand on the bar. I rigged up a simple single line leash with a loop to hook into a harness and that feels even more solid. The leash line is just long enough that i can still reach the bar when i let go and then has a loop tied in at about half that distance to hook the harness. Thanks for the video.
Took your advice and did a similar loop and used the two velcro strips that came with the Maliko to attach it to the bar. Worked really well today and I was able to get up on my 85L board and did a small 6km downwinder. I’m absolutely frothing now. Video coming soon 🤙
Heck yeah! So sick. Good job for first session! You’re gonna trip once you get it dialed and do a downwinder. Hardest part is figuring out how to stow away. Once you get that it’s on! I’m throwing away or selling my paddle now lol! Mid Length board with smaller foil is the dream. Yeeew🤙🏾
Impressive to hear from someone like you. I have refused to learn SUP. I don’t think the Parawing can entirely replace a paddle. But it seems promising.
Great vid and post session reflection. I’m a few sessions in and loving my 55L ML at 68 KGs. Much easier to control board angle in relation to the wind when taking off. For a harness, get yourself a small strand of 3mm dyneema shock cord and make a loop using a single brm attachment. The stretch of the bungee is so money, as you can take half the load off while still having 360 freedom to fly the handle.
Great video, looking to buy one myself for downwinding. If you dont mind, what do you weigh and are you happy with the 4m size. Im 85kgs, proficient foiler on kite, wing and DW but not sure what size for 15 to 20 knots. Aim to use on my DW board. Your recommendation?
Tks! We have a similar background and weight. I’m 82kgs now and would be comfortable on the 4m from 15 - 20kts. Anything over 20kts I can still use it but then it becomes impossible for me to go upwind. Downwind on 20-25kts is ok. You’ll pop up and pack it down straight away or just ride straight downwind to shed some speed and get some slack in the lines. Good luck brother! You’ll never touch a wing again 😂

So true… foiling just keeps on giving. Every year something new!

@@chrispewkremethere are days where the paddle will still be better. But the days that the wind is stable and strong you can’t beat the parawing!

Tks Graham, I fashioned a harness loop and harness line and it felt great. Posting my second session video up today!

Going back out tomorrow or the day after, can't wait brother! I'll try to compare my upwind angle on the wing with the parawing.
What was the name of that harness hook and where can you get one? Thanks.
