Love that "40 foot square" soft box (it must be the compact version.) 😜

Thanks, studio lighting always feels like I am guessing and using trial & error. This should help quite a bit.

loved this. I never thought of making something flat then going from there. I love the way you teach. I never heard this style before and it really does make me think. Do you do the same technique when the hat lets say is on a person because you are now having 2 different 3 dimensional objects. You have the persons face and then the hat its self. In that part I always light for the subject then I would add a light for the hat to build up its texture. But you make me think I may be doing it backwards in the way of this technique.
Not to make you do more work. I always loved your natural-ish portraits if you were to do more of them. The ones I know are self portraits, and I am curious if anything changes besides the time frame to check the photos if you were to photograph a talent. The 2 you have of one on the porch and the others with guitars were beautiful. You have this way of not natural plus extreme but to capture each aspect of the room in a way that is truthful. And I hope it doesnt sound weird but I believe your style will be the new lifestyle photos in 3-5 years and not this perfection. As you capture real life what our rooms look like in this zoom world people are used to. And not this perfect, fake to life that is popular in todays advertising. Beauty in what is real but how people say.a headshot is you on your best day times 5 your environmental portraits are a place on its best day times 5,

great video, but a question, if you have lights, like elinchrom ranger\Quadra, where the pack splits the lights 33% and 66%, depending which socket you pick, aka you can't adjust the ratio, just the power, is there a workaround for the technique you show here, like using reflectors on one, and a softbox or umbrella on the other?
