2:26 theyre called secondary dominants, aka V/V. no it's not "using a major chord" thats not in the key, (thats a borrowed chord) it's the fifth of the fifth of a key. for C its chords are I ii iii IV V vi viio (C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, Bdim) so its five is G and G's five is D. so D is a secondary dominant of C. elliott doesnt use it like a secondary dominant th-cam.com/video/ahj17nnoaxE/w-d-xo.html heres a video on it
