  • But have they fixed the big issue? Includes Bluetooth now by the way. How does it compare to the “A” model?

    I appreciate the matte finish. I don't like products with a glossy finish that makes fingerprints and dust so visible.

    They have done well with these C turntable models. Still loving my C8.

    Thanks so much for playing "That's How I Got My Start" from my album "Top Shelf" as a demo. If you want something with more instruments and even bird calls, try "An Occasional Man." And please send my love to Yoshi! We have a houseful of rescued parrots, and I had a green cheek named Tiki whom I loved very much. We lost her last year, and I still miss her every day.

    These 3600L’s are awesome cartridges. Sound great, and are workhorses. When are “audiophiles” going to understand that a conical tracking at this weight are gentle on vinyl? Then again, look at all the “audiophiles” who were just bamboozled by MoFi?

    • @stevesstuff1450
      @stevesstuff1450 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Damn right! That AT3600 series carts are amazing! The very fact that so many high-end manufacturers use them is a testament to that - some turntables well over £/$1000 even....
      I use a Rega RP1 which comes with what Rega call their "Carbon" cartridge..... it's nothing more than the AT3600/AT91 cartridge which tracks at just below 2gms (instead of the 3.5 of the 3600L cartridge).
      Sounds fantastic! Perfect synergy with the very high quality tonearm that Rega hand-make for this and the Rega P2, (obviously as their range goes up, they include higher priced cartridges!).
      It's a no-brainer that so many of these budget turntable use the same 3600L cartridge; it works so well in them, and makes them sound great!!

    Nice to see antiskate and auto stop options. I have a first gen C6 and have had issues with speed consistency. I even sent one back on warranty and the replacement had the same issues. I suspect QC issues with the cheap sub platter because I could see it visibly wobble when spinning. I replaced the sub platter with the equivalent from project debut and have no more problems. Great video thanks

    Adjustable counterweight, antiskating, and the ability to swap phono cartridges for $20 less than the Audio-Technica AT-LP60X? Impressive!

    Thank you Sir. I was in absolute disbelief that that “iron skillet” was supposed to rest atop that spindle. I was wrong. I’ll use my suitcase player for 45’s I guess. Thanks again! 👩🏾‍🦱

    Glad to see the dust cover completely seals the entire unit, so the cover can be closed while the LP or 45 is playing. Usually that is my listening preference, though I have made exceptions in the past.

    As someone who uses a turntable for archival purposes, this Crosley is a decent choice mostly for its overall simplicity. If you look at a lot of old Thorens turntables, the Acoustic Research AR-XA and the Philips GA-212/GA-312 there are some design aspects that are very similar.
    One major difference is Crosley didn't float the platter and toneaem in the plynth, which isn't a big deal since unless you have a very stable floor 9 out of 10 times you will have the suspension locked anyway.
    The lack of auto return ensures a quieter noise floor as there is no extra mechanisms to add rumble or resonance to the LP. Also the use of a sub platter is also a very nice feature. Oddly enough that annoying speed adjustment on the first version does pay tribute to the original AR-XA which is fine for that piece of gear not having a switch seems silly on a consumer based turntable, so good on them for adding a speed selector.
    I would say the weakest point would be some of the materials used to keep it at that price point. The motor is good, but not great. Probably subject to wear over time where a beefier motor may handle the job better over prolonged use, however if you are handy, those are easy to replace.
    Overall I am impressed, however with the amount of turntables I already own, I can't see buying one unless there was a really compelling sale on one. Then I'd buy one to try out.
    Check out a Philips 212 or 312 as well as the Advent AR-XA. All very influential turntables on what we now consider audiophile grade turntables.

    That's a smart looking turntable for the price. A great way into finding out how good vinyl can sound. Always enjoy your reviews. I presume we can purchase these products in the UK. 200 dollars is less than 150 pounds sterling. Great value.

    Hudson should drop a closed loop groove on those strobe discs so you can account for drag while checking speed. Maybe mention that to them. 😀

    • @xaenon
      @xaenon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it would help. The drag would vary depending on frequency and amplitude, wouldn't it? I mean, isn't that why record players rely on the rotating m ass of the platter?

    About 15 years ago due to job movement I gave up about 2000 lp's saved over 40 years along with some better than average equipment consisting of a dual turntable and Ohm's Walsh 4 speakers. Now close to retirement and no longer required to move around for employment, I have gotten back into the lp game. No way am I going to replace 2000 lp's, with all that on my computer hard drive /ITunes, my goal is to replace 2, maybe 300 of the favorites. Starting slow and working my way up, I decided to go with the Crosley C6B along with the Ortofon M2 Red. With this setup appearing to have emphasis on the upper ranges and I using Sony css5 and the Klipsch r41M bookshelf speakers, I decided to go to a Spherical stylus and are now using the Rega Carbon to add more emphasis to the lower mid and bass ranges and it's working just fine. I am looking for an excuse to upgrade to a more expensive turntable, and right now I can't find one.

    I would like to suggest to you that you also do the speed and wow&flutter test with an app. There's a free one called "turntable speed" available on both Android and iOS devices.
    It works very reliably I have compared it with a strobe and it was basically spot on. The one useful thing of the app is that it shows wow&flutter numbers which are also accurate since I've done tests regarding that as well.
    Test like this would give more of a basic understanding regarding performance, you can also save measured data of different turntables in the app and later compare with one another.
    I really enjoy your reviews and the tests with the app would be greatly appreciated!

    Long time, no see!! It’s Jeff. You’re getting ready to do a video on a Crosley. We’re getting ready for Christmas 🎅 anyway, so these little sets will be overpopulating Walmart. This one ☝️ only seems to be a turntable. In this case, I would have passed, but at the same time, I’m interested in your videos. I don’t even know if this thing’s got some tiny, built-in speakers 🔊. That subplatter must be like 👍 a second idler wheel, maybe 🤔 eliminating the use for a drive belt. Knowing the luck of these things, the cartridge is probably ceramic. Your friend, Jeff.

    a great review...for myself i particularly liked the green/grey feathers....the black finish to the bars of the cage and the way it curves at the top...i also liked,but perhaps not quite as much...the little bit of orange coloured fruit..may have been better if it had been red gloss,but only my humble opinion....oh,and most importantly,the one foot point of contact,to the cage.....no wobble what so ever...and no adjustment required...a no brainer ..awesome video...

    Love the bird Yoshi he'd make a great mascot for recordology ,I liked the original c-6 cause of the piano finish tone arm reminded me of the c-10 but it had no antiskate the new c-6 is very nice the matt finish looks really good and high quality but I do not like the plastic head shell and the fact tone arm where it pivots is plastic it had a lot of movement ,now on platter wobble ,note no disrespect I did see platter wobble ,that would drive me nuts my c-10 came with same platter metal but the wobble was not there at all but I replaced it with acrylic platter cause it is easier to lift and change speeds ,I all so liked that it had a speed selector switch very nice ,just like the pro- ject TT that is the c-10 the newer models of the pro-ject TT's also have a switch ,I love the new c-6 but the platter wobble Iit looks like to me when they cast it it was not that true cause as you were testing record on TT i saw like a out of round shapeness L don't know ir that is a word ,to the platter ,the same thing I noticed on some of the older TT's like BSR,DUAL and GARRARD TT's the ones with aluminum platter you can how some wobble at the edges ,i believe when they were cast maybe how melted metal cools it did not cool off true or flat I have a dual 1009 sk and platter was very heavy but it had a bad wobble to me it looks like it came out that was it was very disturbing to me ,it looked just how this one wobbles but I found a 1019 dual patter was nearly the same but 1 and a half lighter and this one barely wobble that is my curse I havs an ocd prob with things running true but it is a great looking TT and another great !!!!! vid thanks JRo
