Hi. That was good. I was also there on the Sunday. I was in the leading cab about 25 mins after you. I was told that the engine in the lead car is to be replaced not repaired. The film shows that I saw you but didn't recognise you behind your mask and camera. My wife nearly fell over laughing when I pointed me out to her. Really raised a smile in us both.
Haha! Yes they told me eventually about the replacement of the engine to an original, what was the time stamp of you in my video! I sneak around, invisible to all 🥸
43102 is now on display at Locomotion Shildon County Durham spill over of the National Railway Museum. I can remember these beasts entering service, it seems weird now that they are retiring and being preserved
7:50 When there was actually good and reasonably priced food and drink on the trains. Ahh, memories. 8:25 Damn, I remember being a kid and not being able to see over the counter when we went up for food.,
My dad drove these on the ecml between kings x and Edinburgh however had the route to Aberdeen signed off. Used to love meeting him at Newcastle finishing a shift and seeing him pull one of these animals into the platform
3:11 Unbelievable! That engine pushed that train past 200km/h. That track looks like a standard 1.067m track, yes? How many trains made for a track that narrow can go toe-to-toe with this train, even if powered by overhead wire?
Luckily been able to cab them various times at Cardiff, Bristol and Edinburgh (GNER days) and I still remember cabbing one of the barbie liveried 43s at Swansea.
Amazing video keep it up mega sim!!! And the last company that owned this was maybe virgin rail or intercity? Can I say what’s the ticking on the HST at the end?
Since you've played TSW2 the controls for the AWS & DSD are on Right Side driver side DRA provided you are able to enter the cab. Class 20 has a Blue Star multiple working if brought to West Somerset Railway it can work with the Class 33 there due to Blue Star MU
I think I mentioned it in the video on the right hand side. The cab for the intercity HST was different to the GWR one, as they said about GWR making a changem and that they want to have matching cabs to make it easier for their drivers (at 125 group)
Wait hang on- some of the mk3s are buffered hst which from my knowledge. They can’t connect to normal class 43s as they are loco hauled. So how are they connected?
They were fitted with old school hook couplers because they used to be surrogate DVT’s back in the late 80’s to work with the Class 91’s until the MK4 sets were delivered. They are now with a European open access company RailAdventure.

I cannot fucking wait to see these in mainline charter services! This is the future of HST’s. (Apologies for swearing, I have Tourette’s.)
I'm so happy that 43044 has been preserved. My favourite powercar
And better still, they are planning to re-Valenta it! It will be fitted with ETCS (European Train Control System) to comply with mainline operations!
Yes! @@TheosTrainsWalesOfficial
Was that an original pxman valetta ?

They are a thing of beauty!
Brilliant mate. Brilliant video Looks like you had a great day out
Thanks Dave! Was a good day out, except I took almost an hour to record and chat to people on the train… oops
@10:00 the amount of memories I have of these fgw hsts growing up is just wow
Cool! I also attended this event on the Monday! Its a lovely set the 125 group have
It definitely is! Did you see them start it up?
@@MegaSim i did see them start it but unfortunately i was in the Intercity powercars cab at the time
Aww never mind, was a great place to go at the weekend though!
Jesus those FGW Mk3 seats were comfortable

It is a shame not seeing HST's in Cornwall anymore .. Other than the Castle sets
Yea I know what you mean, and them whizzing through to reading
@James Goodhall I see xc hsts in Penzance. I even see 43184 every day (in Penzance) /!
It was great to hear the MTU start up you caught that at the perfect time
Wasn’t planned at all! Was amazing to hear it again
@@MegaSim Shame it wasn’t a Valenta, though.
At least we can recreate the good old days with ts and tsw!
Hi Megasim those coaches you were wondering about are from crosscountry 2nd class I'm sure
I am on the GWR mainline and GWR have kept there HST but shorten down and nicknamed to castle sets
The amount the have has been drastically reduced… unfortunately
Those mk3 are loco hauled not HST stock you can tell by the buffers on the end of each coach.
Amazing video keep it up mega sim!!!
And the last company that owned this was maybe virgin rail or intercity?
Can I say what’s the ticking on the HST at the end?
Thanks! The intercity one was ex EMT (there’s an old EMT sticker in there) not sure on the circle red seats
5:31 Why does that carriage have buffers? I thought hst trailers didn't have buffers.

@@MegaSim thank you for telling me about this so it means reversed layout for AWS DRA DSD
9:50 its a guard not a train manager
True, train manager is the newer name for it
The swallow HST might be valenta swapped soon
Wait hang on- some of the mk3s are buffered hst which from my knowledge. They can’t connect to normal class 43s as they are loco hauled. So how are they connected?
It’s not a fully running train, so maybe just connected for the static showcase?

Lol I was driving a HST in train sim world 2 when you looked in the cab
Nice
That loco you called a 40 it's actually a 37 because I went there Monday to see then power cars as well.
I love your account, what if u go to the netherlands. The trains there are beutiful
Ive been there on the trains in Amsterdam 😊
I hope I can ride one some day, I live in the US so I can’t ride it anytime soon
Ur cringe 1442 Picture from the US cringe
Fun fact: I have the a model train of the HST in Intercity 125 livery.
Nice, ive got one in the "purple" ;) GWT and Virgin
Wait, why did the 8F have driver's position on the right? Shouldn't it be on the left side?
They could be either this particular variant is right sided
Are they going to put the original head lights back in the HST
No idea, but they possibly might!
Alongside 43102, which isnon static display at the national railway museum.
I saw the rear end of the fastest diesel :)
@@MegaSim yup, technically 43044 is fastest diesel in operation as 43102 is on static display
Wouldn’t it be the 43159 I saw because it was the trailing engine for the 43102 which is at NRM currently but still active?
I know I’m a yer late but it should be in vtec…with Neville hill tmd?
What a beauty! Love all the wear and tear in the cab
It really was!
Lner/virgin trans Scotland to London via Newcastle and York
The hst was probally LNER
Or virgin trains East coast
Ex EMT and GWR 👍🏻
I also saw some class 91 at Newark north gate
Nice!
OMG YOU REPLIED
when was this recorded
Sunday
@@MegaSim ok
Nottingham; a boring city but very friendly and probably the best if wanting to visit heritage sites.
Not the fastest but certainly the best.
You nearly hit a low there didn't you?
?
I went there on the 29th
I was there on Sunday too 😊
AYCH not Hache
First comment
Yes but have you watched it all yet?
I’m watching it now
The hst was probally LNER
