MSD Ready To Run Distributor Installation

- I had a slight stumble on acceleration and I had previously changed the spark plugs, ignition module, ohmed the spark plug wires, changed to another known good coil, fuel filter and disassembled the carb to clean it. I ordered a new MSD ready to run distributor part# 83606 and installed it. Runs like a new boat, night and day difference. If I dont pay attention to the rpms Ill go over 5k quick. I did set the rev limiter off camera to prevent that. I have so much power now at all rpms that Ill have to get a higher pitched prop. The install took a little over an hour. Test drive at the end, Hope you enjoy.

The shift interrupter wire, how did you connect this wire so that you can shift from forward and reverse?
How did you hook up the shifter kill switch?
Ya did you hook to negative on coil or ? Interested....

So u can completely bypass the thunderbolt ign module w this distributor? I have a 305 merc from an 86 baja in my laser,and saw how much those little modules cost ,not cheap i would love to go this route w something fresh

Dude, can you remake this video WITHOUT huffing helium? 2nd, NEVER leave the hole uncovered after removing distributor! If you would've drop that hardware from wiring...😳

I see you removed the old thunderbolt ignition module, what ignition system did you replace it with?

i want to put one on a 454, im confused with the wires, i can see a white with red , and a white with green strip wires coming from the ecu box, do i disregard them totally?
If you have a separate ecu box then you would still use those.
Worked great out of box but failed less than 3 years. MSD is not the quality they used to be years ago.

your "amp" is a shift control module thunder bolt 5 fyi
I have a 4.3 doing same thing but no fire at all can I bypass my thunderbolt 5 module like he did with a ready to go distributor

What spring combination and advance stop bushings did u use?
I honestly dont remember, its been a few years.
I want one unfortunately we don't get sun here in Scotland and it's not as much fun in the pouring rain lol

@@AveRage_Joe so you must of had to adjust it? if so was it hard?
@@ashtonwilliams2955 use a 9/16 wrench(for tight spaces use a crowfoot wrench) to loosen the distributor retainer slightly. use a timing light to check...well... the timing. timing mark and degree notches are on the crank pulley at about the 1 o'clock position. for a 350 marine set timing to 8 degrees before top dead center. retighten the retaining bolt and recheck the timing, and you are set.
