Still remember the first time i watched this in 2016. I was a little twelve-year-old girl and had played drums for 2 years but has never seen another girl playing drums, like ever. And she was KILLING it. I think I cried??? Might seem ridiculous to some but this is where I experienced the importance of representation for the first time. She made me think it was possible. And it was! Still drumming, 8 years later!❤️
that was the same to me I remember listening to this on the way to school as a 12 yr old. Scarlett was the reason I'd started drumming a couple of years earlier.
Can't believe this was 7 1/2 years ago, still remember hearing it live as I was driving down towards Warrnambool for work, had chils down my spine... so good!!
Since only Janis got it, imma tell you what the joke was. It's because she's really pretty and the camera man seems to think so too. I guess drummers are not funny.
I always come back to this cover, scarlet was the reason I first wanted to drum years ago. I haven't in a long time but I'm thinking of getting back into it now and this gets me excited for it
@@notaplic8158- I can only imagine that something has changed in how time stamps are tagged over the last 7 years 🤷♂️ Updated the original comment to 2:56.
Man they're talented, the drummer is quick with her hands, the singing is nice and don't get me started on the guitar. As an aspiring musician, i really look up to these guys.
fuck off google i dont want to use my real name also and correct me if im wrong, but isnt the drummer also very significant? i think she had a lot of singing parts on Awkward (that album)
Now that is what I call audio engineering. Granted, amazing band, so happy I bought the ep, but the recording and mixing of this youtube is just fantastic. Well done Current.
the girl on the drums kills it. good stuff. funny how many versions of this song i've heard and how many times i've heard it - yet i'm far from tired of it.
Wouw! que bonito la canción, la vos, la mujer y la sonrisa 4:11 y bueno también los Guitarristas creo que tengo un grupo favorito nuevo, saludos desde Chile.
And of course the original version came in at number 2, but then again I don't really need to say that because anybody who listened to the countdown in full would most likely have heard it.
AMAZING cover - Congrats to San Sisco as well for placing at 39 on the hottest 100 this year with this track. The first time in 15 years that both a cover and an original appeared together in the hottest 100.
Actually that's not entirely true. In 2004 The Scissor Sister's appeared with their cover version of Take Me Out, then Franz Ferdinand appeared at number 1 with the original, so not quite 15 years, more like 9 years, and I think it may have happened since then. I know there have been times when a studio original and a live version of a song have appeared in the same annual countdown.
LOL! To the cameraman: there are, uh, other people in the band aside from the lovely drummer. Would have liked to see a bit of the guitar during the SOLO... #notesfornexttime
These guys are really talented, good on them. The drummer has amazing technique and really does well with the bongos adding to the atmosphere of the song
I am from Mexico and the first time I heard this cover song was in Cyprus. At the other side of the wolrd. Good said you can live again a moment with a song. That will be part of my life, my memories and my love. Will never forget that day. At the island of Paphoos with a girl who loved me and who I cant love.
+Katya You aren't a drummer are you? Bongos were a good choice and she started out with a good beat but after the first section of drums she does nothing new for the rest of the song except smile, if anything when the rest of the band is building she is simplifying her stuff and just using open hi hats when she could be peppering in all sorts of stuff to really sell it .
+KevSpace I am well aware it was according to her judgement to keep it simple, that is what makes her not that great of a drummer. If you can't judge her drumming on the premise of her keeping it simple and showing no creativity or vision in a bridge that all of her band is building on then what can you critique it on? If she stuffs the beat up? because there is no stuffing those beats up mate, they are all too simple. It is also important to note that I am not judging her on this piece alone, I like and listen to san sisco fairly frequently. Not one of their originals has made me think "this drummer knows her shit". And yes she is a musician, the dictionary will tell you that a musician is someone who plays a musical instrument, well done 1 gold star. Just because you are a musician in a semi-famous band, it doesn't mean you make great decisions every time or are even talented. Yoko ono, Meg white, PSY, William Hung are all some quick examples that come to mind. We do have our own tastes yes this is true. I don't let my taste get in the way of music critique. There are a lot of things I dislike but will appreciate musical talent and vice versa, this is a good example. I personally like the cover and what the band has achieved with this piece. But the drums are mediocre and I stick by that. Yes we have both never been on like a version, your point? I really don't get any of your arguments ay, you keep getting shut down and coming in with new bullshit angles to try to sound smart even though this started with me telling someone that the beat isn't that complex, she hasn't done anything very impressive even though she has been given plenty of chances in the song and the bongos definitely aren't pre recorded because there is not one part of the song where they overlap. Come at me when you have valid arguments buddy.
in her modern drummer interview she was talking about how she wanted to be the backbone of the group and not steal the show or anything, so it's funny that she's all anybody is commenting about. she's awesome of course. song rules
Awesome absolutely awesome version brilliant loved it...crazy ass beats coupled with brilliant guitar bass and vocals striking the right chord..Cheers from India!
