Honestly the only game that deserves 10/10 in the world i think is persona 5/royale and it was released at the same year as botw but zelda have to win everything cus only the real gamers can appreciate a game like persona.

I think this game is obviously absolutely great but not a masterpiece like Persona 5 Royal or what I think Bladurs Gate 3 is going to be.
Also the Yakuza games are wonderful like 0, 7 and Judgement!

I just finished the game, and I have never been excited, never cried this much, and never been so impressed in a videogame that really pushes the boundaries of what a spectacle it is. I am absolutely wrecked, and didn't expect any less from the team behind FFXIV.

I still think FF15's Leviathan boss was the most amazing spectacle done on a Console (and still amazing on PC) , but aside for 2 or 3 Bosses in that game I feel FF16 is way stronger overall. I just couldn't put up with the corny dialogue in FF15 and "the Car" just took away the whole urgency and seriousness of everything. The darker, medieval tone of FF16 is really refreshing. 🍹
I played the demo and instantly pre ordered it. I haven't been this excited for a Final Fantasy game since Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

15 was a worse product but honestly equally fun as 16. 15 was over ambitious and 16 was under ambitious imo.

@@reedified6514 I sometimes play on graphics mode and got used to it very quickly. It's also more stable in graphics mode. The game looks absolutely gorgeous even in performance mode, so maybe it's your TV or something?

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who caught that. Man.... I've waited 15-20 years since FFX came out to play this game. I went from PS2 to PS5 and only got the PS5 for THIS game.
The game is amazing it's absolutely gorgeous the combat works, it feels fresh and new, the cutscenes her perfectly timed, a truly epic tale, I never played final fantasy games but I pre-ordered this and I haven't been dissatisfied
Best Boss fights ive ever played in my life, the Eikon fights are godly.
I’m only part way through the game, but every Eikon fight is so epic it feels like it could be a final boss battle!
I very much dislike that people think that "darker" makes things better somehow. People don't mention emotion like bright or happiness to explain something to be amazing.
This game is arguably top 3 in the franchise… and in this case darker worked to near PERFECTION!

Darker is better. Mystery is more intriguing, more interesting.
It is... because life is dark, filled with moments of happiness that make it worth it. Any media or art that portrays life as silly and happy is ridiculous and unrelatable. People enjoy "dark" stories because they're relatable. We live in some of the best times in history, and even we have to contend with the loss of loved ones, embarrassment, bullying, competition etc. But all of those experiences make us better people, and wiser people.
Now imagine other times. Times of war, times of poverty etc. To tell dramatic stories (which every game/movie does) and not make it darker than real life feels so empty and fake. There is a place for Disney movies, but they also have dark themes and are a lot more silly and goofy to make them light hearted for kids. But Disney movies don't claim to be some form of high art, they're simply family entertainment with shallow themes to entertain the adults a bit while the kids get some basic moral lessons in the form of entertainment.
Played the demo and it was brilliant and the fact that progress carries over to the main game from the demo defo picking this up. The game has a much darker tone which is what makes it stand out

Long story short: it’s the first Final Fantasy in a long time that will remind you why you started loving Final Fantasy.
I'm mostly a pc gamer and this game made me want to buy a ps5 to play it, finish it, and have no regrets. That should tell you something. It is a masterpiece of storytelling, such a breath of fresh air, and I liked the combat too.

What really frustrates me about these newer Final Fantasy games is not that they aren't good, it's that they are good, great even, and I love them... but I can't help but still feel the loss of the traditional Final Fantasy game, and the success of these games makes me feel like we will never go back to that. So, I am caught in a place where I am frustrated that the games they are making are so good, but are still not quite what I am wanting them to be. I would really love to see them take the franchise and split it. One branch making these new, more linear, action games. The other, a turn-based, super open world, more exploration-heavy game... with AIRSHIPS in it again. God, I miss the excitement of getting your first airship mid-game. The flying mod to the car in XV just didn't quite pull that off. I do like the more mature approach though for both game types. Sadly, I know I am wishing for something not likely to ever happen.
I for one miss the JRPG genre, its hard with everything blending into an "action RPG" game.
@jasondavis2945 Agreed! I feel like it's a genre that the industry has decided can't sell just because they think action has a wider appeal, but in reality, it's just begging for a new game. Kind of like how the industry decided survival horror was dead.... then Capcom made Reaident Evil 7 and was like, "Oh! People actually buy this game if we stick to the genre that made it popular in the first place. Who knew?". Aside from the millions of gamers screaming it at them... that they just ignore.
I think they already are no? Didn't ff7remake come out? I'm betting you liked that one, and it's still ongoing with more releases on the way probably. I think this was a special case of the creators of ff14 making this one, and thus why you see a bunch of MMO elements in it. And they brought in the DMC guy to make a good action game. I'm not sure if we'll have both down the line, however in any case I will be happy, this game was a masterpiece, and I find it hard to complain about a masterpiece, even if it's different from what I'm used to
@Explicitnice If you think that the FFVII Remake fits my description, then you didn't read it very well. I did love it, though. I love almost all the FF games... almost. I just miss the older, turn based, more exploration heavy, open world, style. FF7 Remake was not that.
@@Draidis Unfortunately turn based is a dying breed. People don't have the attention span for it anymore. The other parts I agree with, there's no reason to argue against FFXVI being a more fleshed out game, as much as I enjoy it. Hopefully ff17 will be that and we can both enjoy it.

Played for several hours last night. My Lord what a gorgeous game.
For people who don't know. Square Enix already acknowledged and addressed the framerate issue. Many problems will be fixed in the Day-1 patch 1.03+ (Demo was version 1.01) but the biggest fps fix will be a post launch patch, if options to turn off Motion Blur and so on. My guess is patch will drop after 1-2 weeks, so if you want the full FF16 experience, just wait a bit. Also @DigitalFoundry will surely make a in-depth video of how the performance of FF16 is.
will they also fix the terrible motion blur in quality mode?

It's better to have a performance mode which is struggling to hit a perfect 60 but will be improved with each subsequent patch rather than having no performance mode and players skipping on the game. I remember when witcher 3 came out, it was struggling to hit a stable 30 but after a couple of patches, witcher 3 ran at a locked 30. A lot of games run at a locked/stable 60 after a couple of patches. The people saying don't release 60 fps performance mode because it's struggling are mostly pc players who want devs to give console players a barely playable experience with terrible input latency (30 fps) so that the game plays best and shines on their high end gaming pc. Those people want developers to treat console players as 2nd class citizens and prioritize development on pc. Higher fps reduces input lag and makes combat more satisfying😎

DF published today I think. TLDR was that the game looked great over all but did struggle in performance mode, it had a weird effect where during combat the game would cap its resolution but resulted in a true locked 60fps, but then as soon as combat ended the res would un cap and the fps would freak out again. It feels like performance mode is maybe another patch or 2 away from what it should be. But it’s not as bad as some people are claiming.
I would’ve preferred if this review didn’t have so many moments highlighting specific story cutscenes that weren’t in the demo but overall still an awesome review! Super excited for the game!

I stopped watching another review because of spoilers. Came back to this one after finishing the demo section and decided to stop for the same reason.
I just got my PS5 yesterday with the FFXVI bundle and the game is absolutely amazing. From the story to the combat, it's fantastic so far.
Was talking to Lorath in Diablo 4 and suddenly I heard his voice from the FFXVI trailer. Turned out Ralph Ineson voiced both Lorath and Cidolfus, what a coincidence!
I have a feeling that Lorath is going to be in a lot more games going forward.

Just beat this game today. One of my favorite games ever!! It was fantastic and couldn't have expected such an amazing game. The soundtrack was fantastic as well
I'm still not done with it yet, but I can say I genuinely like the more grounded and serious tone the game's story has. You have games like FFVII Remake whose story is relatively grounded, but the entire narrative is kind of a fever dream of thoughts and concepts. In XVI, however, it is more grounded. Outside of the eikons, magic isn't this superior thing - its more like a tool. People are still oppressed, but not in a comically overwhelming way (such as living in literal scrap heaps in FFVIIR). I'm not saying every FF needs to have some kind of grimdark bs in it, but having a mature setting, and some dark tones isn't necessarily a bad thing. So far, outside of a moment here and there, I feel that the story in XVI is two things: Enjoyable and easy to follow.
That 2nd one is a biggie, since there are so many Final Fantasy entries that just dump you into a world with no knowledge of anything, and everyone speaks in riddles (FF X anyone?). Also - Active Time Lore is a GOD SEND if you've forgotten who a character is, or stepped away for a period of time and need to re-establish how we got to where we are. That addition is AMAZING, and I truly hope it's in every FF going forward.

Yea, maybe save for 2 or 3 bosses from FF15 (especially the Leviathan), I feel FF16 is a much better and more compelling game overall. I'm always a sucker for the gritty and dark medieval theme and it works a total charm here, especially with the series finally having gone full Action and embracing that sweet DMC style combat. About time!

One thing I really miss is the tactical part of controlling a full party, each with their own roles, controlling that team work to get the best out of it. Honestly hope to see that back again in future versions.
We had enough of that, it's time for this franchise to let the past go (as they did with almost each game) and be an action rpg like ff16

Revolutionary for the series! The only thing that could have made this game better is a fleshed out multiplayer and a open world, maybe playable party members too but this is the first step in the right direction to revive the series!

There's a line in the full review that didn't make it into this video, regarding how the game doesn't treat revenge as pointless:
"I've grown quite tired of the old trope that seeking revenge is an empty endeavor that makes you as bad as your oppressors, so it's invigorating to have a story put its foot down and give characters the satisfaction of killing their masters to set themselves free, presented without caveat."
FFVII Remake on Hard difficulty has the best combat system EVER for an action rpg IMHO almost soulslike in how perfectly crafted it was. Wish the hard difficulty was unlockable without beating the game on normal first thou.
I sorta wish this im 40 hours in and havent died yet the combat is insanly fun tho so I will go to NG+ FFmode
A gorgeous game that nudged me to finally purchase a ps5. My very minor criticism would be that i wish (1) it employs more extensive face capture from the actual actors, (2) lip syncing is embedded with the audio language options, and (3) ff15's Yoko Shimomura did the music.

The side quests are weak early on, but they are so so good when you do the last one of the 3 or 4 in a chain of side quests from the same character.
Still not sure why this is an exclusive. Square complains about "not having a market" and then doesn't give it an opportunity to grow. Look at Persona: those games got surprise Xbox releases, and now the company had a bunch of announcements at the Xbox showcase, which indicates to me that they performed pretty well! Happy for PS5 players, but confused as to why something as huge as Final Fantasy is still sticking to timed exclusivity

It's insane that a in an FF so singularly focused on eikons you can't actually summon them at will in average battles. They're all scripted...which is disappointing

the cutscenes are definitely long and a focus of this game so if you're not into that, do not get this game. Although I would argue it's worth it and keeps you glued at every step, but everyone does things differently.
Why don’t y’all wait and take your time and play the game to its conclusion before you rush out these reviews with the same footage from the demo. Games like this deserve a decent review.

@@lazyjeff28 That’s fine it gave me everything I needed to know about combat. If you like DMC, GOW, Bayonetta, Spider-Man, Hi Fi Rush, etc, this is a game you don’t want to miss.
This games a 10/10 for me. If for no other reason than the fact that it shows what DmC could be if capcom was willing to put in some work to make it more grand and epic like this game. I got burnt out on DmC 5 because of how samey and old the levels felt. This game looks amazing all the way through.

@@kyleannen731it is nothing like DMC, that is a challenging game series…FFXVI is like DMC being played at half speed underwater.
As someone who Platinum’d DMC5, this game is a very mild version of DMC combat so it is super forgiving. As a result, it’s something anyone can enjoy, but for those who like more advanced combat, this games satisfies unlike a slow, turn-based style.

Game looks incredible but I'm worried it won't have any humor in it.
The FF series used to be a balance between deep moments and funny moments that kept you invested in the characters and wanting to see them win. These past few FF titles have been very dark in their tone and way too serious throughout the whole story. Fingers crossed that I'm wrong with this one.
I guess it depends on your humor but for me even though this was a darker game than other FFs, I still found myself laughing at some points whether through dialogue or something that happened to an NPC . It does have some humor in it but not too much that it takes away from the darker tone of the story.

It's really good, story is great, combat in this FF is the first i've enjoyed since FFX turn based system. I do however think the NPC's were possibly taken from FFX and re-skinned, not what I was expecting from a 2023 next gen game. Playing as the summons though is truly epic
Not an RPG. Fans of meaningful gameplay will feel robbed by this very restrictive visual thrill ride. It would be far better if it did not carry the Final Fantasy name, because it only wears the garb of the series. Underneath? Nothing.

This game has some of the worst motion blur I’ve ever seen in a game. Graphics mode is unplayable because the entire screen is a blurry mess. Performance mode has dips but at least I can actually see.
“I’m not easily wooed by fancy cinematics” is a wild thing to say after explaining how much he loved the eidolon battles even though they’re literally just fancy cinematics with shallow gameplay mechanics.
This is not final fantasy feels like devilmay cry with final fantasy skins and backstory

All spectacle, bad gameplay, no RPG mechanics. This game got high scores, because reviewers desperately wanted it to be good.
I bought FF16 digitally. Just need a single player game for the PS5 again My first FF since FF12. Since the focus is on action-heavy battles, the story is not quite as important to me. 35 hours of good entertainment, I hope

It's mostly cutscenes. According to another review it was around 75% cutscenes, not exaggerating.
There's also not much side content that isn't just dialogue and the occasional fight so your probably better off just watching a playthrough

FF10 on my end. Having gone back over some of the older titles, I can comfortably say the only mainline title that's topped 10 for me so far has been 9, and only by a narrow margin. I'm looking forward to seeing if 16 can stand with the greats, as it sure looks like it will.

Biggest complaint is that it is waaaaaaaay too easy. I know you can unlock more modes...but they should have been standard. We haven't died once in action mode

Don't understand why zelda got 10/10 again

@@squalie9 Yeah there's an extreme bias for Zelda getting automatic 10s doing nothing new and often being very dated In many ways within It's genre. Reviewers always passively gloss over any of Zelda's faults that other franchises easily get points docked for. This game looks and plays closer to a modern 2023 worthy 10 for It's time (9th gen standards) than Zelda TOTK does , even If both fall short.
Ehh people that review zelda generally have fan boy blinders on. It could be the biggest steaming pile and it would still be the best lol. Decent game but far from perfect.
