Yo been listening to some of your beats, I definitely appreciate the chipmunk soul vibes and sample choices. Your arrangements are strong. I know you feel what you're making. If I can give some feedback as someone who makes beats. Your lacking bass in pretty much everything I've listened to. As someone who struggles to play basslines that really gel with my tracks, I understand-- its a bald spot on your beats I'm sure you're aware of. But this is hip hop, you gotta figure it out. A few tips if you're using a DAW. Use whats there in the samples. If you're going to just utilize the bass already present within your chops, there are a couple options. Duplicate the track(s) and EQ out the highs/mids, boost the lows-- adjust volume to get it sitting right. But also, if you're pitching your samples up real high to get that chipmunk vibe, your bass is going with that. The good news with that is that you'll probably be sitting at a real nice spot an octave lower (not too low) because of that. Duplicate the track, pitch it down an octave (12 semis) and adjust the volume accordingly. This will bring a sub/lowend back into the mix AND additionally it with also fill out your samples across all frequencies, giving your samples more body. You just have to adjust the volume to get it to where its supporting and filling out, but sounds cohesive, almost invisible to someone who wasnt looking at your project-- you want the high pitch to still be prominent, right? If you can hear two vocals distinct, the high and low, thats no good. If my high pitch was at -6db, I'd likely have that lower pitch sitting at maybe -16db. I can hear a really dope bassline in this track. And other ones. That one you posted yesterday too. Its there. If you were making some real thin dusty ass doom/earl type beats I'd say forget the bass, but if youre bringing in fat drums and doing the college dropout vibe, you gotta have it. Last note, your drums feel undercooked-- keep working on them. Busier kick pattern on this. These are all pretty easy adjustments, but things that I think will make your overall mix sound better and more full. The only reason I even bothered writing all of that out is because you've got great taste/arrangement/potential. This shit IS dope like everyone else said, but doesnt have that polish. Peace.
