It helped me through some challenging times and some more challenging in recent years. To me, it tells me to stay strong and fight and never give up !! Thank you for the music ! what was the orchestra used for the "actual" tv theme ? i noticed there is a Denis King and his orchestra Denis King and South bank orchestra and lastly The london string chorale They are available on 7" but i dont know what one to buy ? cheers Gareth
Best is Black Beauty and other TV Themes, CD published by Birnhams. I used the same arrangement (and some of the players!) as in the original LWT version. The London String Chorale is a make-up name for the singers on the original LWT recording. Hope that helps.

Dir Sir, My father played the piano very well. My brother even became a professional piano player. I never had the patience to learn the piano. BUT I was about 8 years old and totally crazy about horses when not few boys were and I still am as you can see on my thumb photo. I was absolute addicted to the Black Beauty tv series. I taught myself the Black beauty tune by listening and trying out the keys on the piano. It is the only song I can play on the piano. Still today in my fifties, when I see a piano or people ask if I can play the piano, I do play your theme song. Great to see the man behind the theme. You indirectly have had an influence on my life for almost 50 years now :) Thank you for this great melody which I will carry in my heart for as long as I live.
I love this music since I'm 10! Still love it after 38 years, now I want my 8 years old daughter seeing black beauty episodes just because of you! Thanks a lot to have enlightened my life with your scores... In an order of idea I'm also a Rachmaninoff addict French guy.... Kind regards.

Every time I hear this tune the back of my eyes start to prick followed by the odd tear and fills me with the warmth of the stress free, care free days of my childhood, running home from school to catch Black Beauty. Thank you sir for this wonderful piece of music that my family have been instructed, must be played at my funeral as the final tune as the congregation leaves.
Your theme was one of my very favourites of one of my very favourite childrens TV series back then. I was always able to hum it in all those years after.
