I've likely also missed a handful.
The thing to remember about this format for gen 2 pokemon is that while its general power may be lower than other gens, it's full of pokemon that are pre-evolutions to gen 1 pokemon, and/or they get evolutions later on. So when you select gen 2, there's a potential Electivire or Honchkrow or Weavile or Farigiraf or Dudunsparce or Crobat or Magmortar or Mamoswine or Blissey, on top of all the pokemon that are actually from that generation. In any case, I don't think many of the really trash mons from gen 2 are even in this game, so gen 2 is a really good bet for a good mon, as this video shows.

Even the weaker Pokemon I think have some of the better desgins then the trash of gen 5 or 7. It was gen 2 right after gen 1 certainly not perfect games or dexs but as a kid it was great. At least we didn't have to sit through 30 min ugly cut scenes to get our starter like gen 7.

If we're talking Gen 2 in the context of Gen 2 (aka Gold/Silver/Crystal) then yeah most Gen 2 mons are dogwater, a lot of them got deserved glowups over time though. Honestly if we wanna talk relative modern powerlevel I'd maybe put Gen 3 as a contender to be at the bottom or at least *near* the bottom (which hurts as it's my favorite gen lol). Unlike Gen 2 which originally had a few really strong mons and a massive handful of crap mons that later got their glowups, Gen 3 didn't really get much of the same treatment in the glowup department. It does at least have some of the strongest/most consistent legendaries to this day though, which is nice, especially in a world where Zacian and Miraidon exist! May the weather trio continue to reign eternal.
Gen 2 is probably one of the best gens for this game as there are a lot of baby pokemon that evolve to good pokemon and a lot of gen 2 got later evolutions as well as the good pokemon from the generation.
I agree that statistically gen 2 mons are bad, but the gen 2 mons that are in SV are often really good... I feel everything but delibird and hoppip line are good
Landerous incarnate is better in singles than therian. Its Ubers. Therian may be better in doubles cause intimidate but I dont play doubles so idk. You also sent the nasty plotter into a very prolific special wall. That is why it did no damage.
Am I the only one who doesn't agree with not being able to evolve male Combee? Another example would be Salandit, but you can't tell which gender it is, so they probably would evolve it anyway.
Overall my favorite generation is 5, though 9 is really giving it a run for its money - the DLC is going to make it or break it. However, like every Pokemon fan, I have a soft spot for my roots - the generation I started with. In generation 2.
