I'm not sure if you'll see this question but you mentioned something about the insurance company.... Can a torque converter get damaged from a car accident? Someone hit us a little over a year ago and we've had a vibration (like going over a rumble strip) at around 1400 RPMs. The vibration did not exist before the accident and no mechanic in our area can figure out what the problem is. From what I'm coming up with online, it could possibly be the torque converter but I have not been able to find out what would cause the torque converter to fail. Thank you.
Hi Sir, I have 07 Toyota avalon with 217k miles. Fluid is clean… I did feel a shudder so I had it drain and refill plus filter done two years ago. Fluid is still good color. But I’ve Notice everytime (I drive highway about 90% of the time) I let my foot off the gas and press it again, it wouldn’t thud and accelerate. Could this be related to the converter?
Thanks for the video very good information. I have a 12 GMC Acadia that has shudder but don't throw out any codes. Took to dealer they added instant shudder fix but was advised it may or may not correct the problem. Months later still dealing with the same problem took to chevy dealer was advised i needed a fuel pump (expensive job) had it it replaced and thought my problem was solved but i still feel the shudder around 40-45 mph and sometimes going up an incline. Replacing pump did seem to help some but the problem is still there. Any advice would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!
seems like some other mechanic didn't install the front pump seal correct before you got to it and when you went to take off the torque converter it was stuck or heat welded onto it.
Since my partner passed, I've been learning to do the many things that he did. However, this repair, won't be one I can do on my own and would really appreciate it if someone could answer a question for me,, please? My 2010 Impala LTZ Automatic (126,000) won't pass Smog and the check engine light reader from Auto Zone says I need a new Torque Converter clutch. The part is just $45, and understanding the labor part is a bitch to get to because you need to take the left tire off and work it from there. My question is, how much time would be reasonably expected with no waiting for the part to be completed? Because I am a woman, and by myself, I feel the price I was quoted, needs a second opinion, and I just want to check with the pros here, if it indeed sounds reasonable. Thanks, if you stuck it out till the end.
Question i have a 2014 jku with 120k will it be recommended to do an oil and filter change i don't know the maintenance history i just got it like a month ago.. thanks
Hey bud, thanks for watching. I think Nissan use a different stradegy to allow for T/Conv lock up. They may use an external solenoid valve of some sort. As oppose to Dodge, this code will result in replacement of the T/Conv. Thanks for watching, please thumbs up the video and subscribe to the channel, thanks
I have 2015 mdx with 145k miles with a bad torque converter. Car shudders between 40mph and 60mph. Should i change the converter now or keep driving like that and rebuild the transmission later? Since the labor is about the same?🤔🤔🤔
Question ive got a nag and its as if the torque converter is leaning down i cant for the life of me figure out how to get the bolt holes to line up straight i have to take a screw driver and lever them up to get one bolt in the hole what am i doing wrong if i cant get the bolts in the torque converter i cant fix the car
My 96 accord has been pulling a p175 code for mainshaft input sensor but I replaced it and reset the ecu and cleaned up all the solenoids and connectors. I'm pretty sure it's my torque converter. If not it's probably the entire tranny right?
Does anyone know if you change your gear ratio on your truck should you change install a torque converter with a different stall speed or does it affect your torque converter at all
Hey bro please help me. I recently changed the tranny valve body successfully, but after installing it, I had to take the vehicle back in to Jeep to get it reprogrammed, and they were pretty pricey. Question.. on a 2015 grand Cherokee if I swap the torque converter do I still gotta take it in for reprogram?
@@OnlineMechanicTips lol. Of course I’m subscribed my man!!! And yes my Jeep has the 8 speed ZF… I want to say I have a bad converter since I already have 110000 miles and when I’m idle I have a knocking taka taka taka taka taka taka loud sound right at the converter direction.
@@supermariobronsmiranda6735 The T/Conv will not require a flash programming. The valve would since the TCM included with it. Every repair I make to these trans I do however complete a quick relearn tho. But its not required, just recommended.
Thank you for sharing..one question: on my 09 gmc sierra the RPMS shutter or 'idle' up and down as i am slowing down, for example as i slow down from 50mph, it shutters at around 30mph, then at 20mph, and one last time just before completely stopping...is this a bad torque converter or transmission issue?...or more like an engine idle issue like throttle body or similar engine issue?...thank you
Ok I went to auto zone because my engine light turned on and they said my torque converter is the problem the code is p1750 could I just replace the torque converter or do I need a new transmission
@@nicolemaria4615 Hey ms lady that code in those Honda usually indicates a mechanical problem in hydraulic system..Now depending on the condition of the fluid will determine if theres internal damage.I can almost assure you most shops will simply recommend that you replace it in order to cut out all the risk..I would not assume a simple T/Conv replacement would repair this
Excellent mechanic tip. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us DIY-ers.

Quick questions after pushing the torque converter all the way back do they usually have a little bit of play left to right up and down?
I took a Chrysler 300 motor and transmission and put it in my magnum, but the transmission connector doesn’t match. What do I do?
