Great summary, I live in Gladstone & have taken my BMW 1200 GSA up there from Calliope & down to the Beautiful Betsy but recon it's too big to do the Razorback. Based on your video I'll give the lookout to Monto a try.
Another great video mate, I especially liked the aerial photography. This area was getting some much needed rain as we were driving past this morning and can't wait to ride there again in the near future. Well done!
Thanks very much. The drone footage has definitely added an element to the videos that I initially underestimated. In all my visits to Kroombit it's never been wet. It would make for interesting riding that's for sure. A waterhole or flowing creek would be magic there in summer.
The road to Ubobo is rough but I don't mind it on the KTM 1090 Adventure R plus there is a great camping area at the Ubobo Discovery Center with toilets, showers and a good camp kitchen. Just a tip when your brakes boil it's a pain in the neck waiting for them too cool, in the past I have put water on the metal part of the brake line and caliper where the Banjo bolt connects the brake line to the caliper from my hydration pack and that seems to cool it much faster I have found. The road to Monto from Kroombit is quite a nice ride, very scenic and one of my personal favorite roads to ride along. Great video, thanks for sharing
I hadn't even thought of cooling them down with water - however at that stage of the day I remember thinking I wasn't going to have enough to get me through to the nearest town on foot. I bled the brakes a little and carried on to find a stream about 500m further down the hill. Riding home on 20% front brakes was an experience not to be had. It was one of those days where you learn multiple things from your multiple mistakes.. Cheers Danny.
This is another great video. Wish I was there with you, but then I notice you always ride alone. And a few beer to boot! I bet it didn't touch the sides...
Thanks Larry. I don't always ride alone although it is becoming more and more my preferred option. If it's just me Im the only one I need to think about! Next video was done with you in mind mate so keep an eye out for it.
Great video. You must live here in CQ and your style of riding is pretty similar to what I get up to when I can. I have been to Kroombit Tops once via the Calliope Rd but was interested in the Razorback. I now have a 1290 R and was a bit concerned if doing that solo was such a great idea on a big bike. I just spotted another video of yours for SEQ that looks interesting as well. I am planning a trip up to the gulf and Lawn Hill later this year and was wondering if you have been that way? If you may be interested, I would love to catch up at some stage as I am really interested in what camera and drone gear you are using as your footage was great.
Thanks very much for your comments. I used to live in Bundaberg which doesn't have much going for it when it comes to ADV riding so Kroombit became a favourite place to journey to. I'm in the Sunshine Coast these days. I haven't been to the gulf or Lawn Hill but I do plan to at some stage. So much country to see, so little time. As far as riding razorback track solo, the only real advice i can offer is - only if you're confident in your machine and your abilities. A big bike could make it harder if you're not confident enough but after test riding that ktm990 adventure, I would love to tackle it on that. It would eat it up. Carry your plb!
For your own safety, always ride on your side of the road when acsending the road from Calliope. Stupid drivers will be coming down cutting corners and driving to fast. It was still raining over that way at 2pm today. Maybe give it a day or 2 to dry out. Some of the roads have been top dressed with the slipperyest clay known to mankind. So if any rain around or predicted don`t go up there.
Blackdown Tablelands is on my list of places to visit. I've seen a lot of pictures recently of some amazing rock pools up there. Went there nearly 20 years ago in a 4wd but didn't really explore it to its full extent. I probably won't go to Kroombit again for a while. Looking for new stomping ground..
Blackdown is good. Not as wild as the RAzorback. Last time there, camped on the edge of the cliff overhang. Fire in front of a sunrise for breakfast. Doesnt get any better. Great content bud. I commented on the idea of putting hydralite ice lollies in your water hydration bag. Hoped it made sense.
@@kevrenshaw6177 thanks Kev. I did see your comment on that. Brilliant idea that I'll be taking on for sure. Cheers. I bloody love the idea of camping like that. Not many places left where you can do that kind of thing without upsetting someone.
Gday Mike. I use DaVinci resolve. It's free software and has more to it than I'll ever use. It's a bit overwhelming at first but the results have been pretty good so far.

Hi Neville, the road from Kroombit Tops to Monto is one of my favourite rides. You wont be disappointed.
EscapeArtist thanks

Thanks Justin, it's hard going so the milestones are great when they happen. Cheers.

Some good points Richard. They were 'fixing' the roads while I was there. You're right - they would be crazy slippery right now
You ever coming up to Kroombit or Blackdown tablelands again soon ?

How many wheels does your motorbike have?
All of them
