Nah. It's almost the same now. Both teams when it comes to added time play very defensive footbal: 1. because they're tired 2. because the other team is tired 3. no one wants to lose a goal because they know they're going to penalties. With golden goal it was much more fascinating and a lot harder.

Funny thing about this match is that Abel Xavier had an excellent chance to put Portugal 2-1 ahead with 5 minutes to go after that header from Figo's free-kick, which would have probably given Portugal the win and made him the hero of the match, as opposed to the villain.
The game was a lot faster back then without all the passing we see nowadays. Was a real privilege to grow up with this era of players which would not fall down for every little touch.

Funny thing about this match is that Abel Xavier had an excellent chance to put Portugal 2-1 ahead with 5 minutes to go after that header from Figo's free-kick, which would have probably given Portugal the win and made him the hero of the match, as opposed to the villain.
Portugal would have won 2-1 if he scored cause that was when the golden goal rule was there so the game would have ended immediately

Very true this was the best euro and France 98 was the best world cup because each team had at least 3 to 6 legendary players , non eu restrictions on players has made international less competitive in my view .
