    Hear hear! Re "son of David" - here's a thought: The _intent_ of those calling Jesus "Son of David" is to name him "rightful heir to the throne" - it's a political claim, and expectation of what the Messiah is, following In David's warrior footsteps. Insofar as Jesus says the Messiah doesn't have to be that, he is saying he isn't going to follow in that path, and that his loyalty is to a greater Father.
    I'm interested in the fact, which I never noticed before, that Matthew like Luke adds "mind" - something that connects with the Hellenistic world of both Jews and Gentiles - but he drops "strength." Interesting.
    Yes. There is nothing moral about the current situation, on either side. It is a stressful backdrop to my regular pre-Advent offering of the course "Children of Abraham" exploring the Jewish, Christian and Muslim stories of the patriarchs.
