***** I think he used that tour to freak people out with "cyber-grunge" experiments that formed the basis of his Kaoss Edge meta-band he used to promote this album, but it definitely would have made people curious.

      +Tyler TheTileMaker (toughguy) no way
“Mutant Standard” is about merging some of the things that I like about big-room
techno and breaking it down into a series of abstractions driven by a
central character who’s sampled throughout the track. *Using sound design
I tried to tell a story of him moving around his neighborhood, and then
ultimately being eaten alive by an alien, thus becoming an alien
      himself."*
thats kinda what youre saying. he created that feeling so accurately that it put that idea in your head

Yes dude! I remember when I first played this album on my car stereo I had it cranked up really loud, it was booming out of four speakers all around me, it was like being inside the stereo. That exact part came in gave me this metaphysical, bombass full body/mind orgasm and for a couple minutes I was lifted out of my seat and then out of my body into a hyperdimension. Honestly though, this song and a couple other songs and moments off of this album give me shivers man, and I'm glad to see other people have experienced it too.

He didn't go back to his soundcloud for two weeks and Daniel had tweeted it a few days after he uploaded it. He was a little embarrassed cuz he banged it out quickly cuz he only wanted it fo sets. says He would've put in more effort if he thought Daniel was gonna hear it. I hear a lot of Aphex Twin in this, the glitch, anxious rhythms, and wild disorientation is there, and I also hear a very deep and careful degree of harmonic intent in OPN's music, which is what sets him above others. Take 3:58-4:46 for instance which is a beautiful section that evokes heavy emotion and uplifting awe. I'm obsessed with this progression, it's defining, and I keep repeating it on a piano, which is where its beauty resonates. The piano is where I always go back to when I want to find these 'moments' in music that I wish could last a lifetime. This brings me back to Lopatin's interest in that "majestic moment of suspended beauty", those momentary events in time, which i believe he found solace in 'Eccojams'. It's always a personal one, and the moment for me in Mutant Standard is 3:58-4:46. If music was the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe, then OPN's music is like looking through that keyhole.

+Purla "Different" is not always "backwards".
I know what you mean, I was kind of disappointed by 'I Bite Through It' too, but simply because it was not what I expected from OPN. But on listening to it a number of times, I realised that wasn't a bad thing. He's doing what he does best - experimenting. With different sounds, styles and genres. I mean, look at the difference between 'Returnal', 'R Plus 7' and this... It's phenomenal.
It's also a big part of the reason I love OPN's music. It never feels stale and it's an ever-evolving entity.

+Purla as much as I like R plus 7 and Replica, I think I Bite Through It is one of his best songs ever. I love his past styles, but his move into a more noisey and melodically coherent piece was just beautiful. Remember, artists have to change in ways to not be redundant and progress... I think he's doing a great job with that.
