We used SCM’s Delightful Reading Level 2 and my daughter started reading the Pathway Readers around lesson 80. We also incorporated Bob books along the way as well. But just with those, my daughter’s reading completely exploded, so we didn’t even need to do level 3 of Delightful Reading. I’m doing level 2 again with my second child now. It’s such a wonderful program!

🙏🏻🙏🏻thank you so much for this comment! I don’t know why I question it. I love the CM approach to reading and level 1 worked perfectly for us. I just see everyone using All About Reading and it makes me question our choice. So silly. Thank you so much!

Oh that is good to hear, i only have level 2 as well from SCM, but instead of the bob books i purchased the Dash into Learning readers. So good!

I never belive all-in-one language arts curriculms are checking off all the boxes. They may be open and go most of the time, but they're always lacking in one of those categories. Building your own takes a lot more planning and prepping, but I honestly think it's the best way to have a well rounded language art study.
I love the idea of reading journals! I saw another mama doing them, and planned to impliment them once we've completed level 2 of AAR. Thank you for these great ideas!

I have first language lessons that I may be getting rid of. Haven’t used it as I thought I would. We have been doing easy grammar. I also have that us borne grammar book.

It's never too early to plan, haha. We've used the first 2 levels of First Language Lessons, and they've worked really well for us (I'm planning to continue with the 3rd level next year, and maybe bring in some Rooted in Language resources as well).

That's funny, my daughter hated explode the code ( we even pulled it aside for a while) at first and now she loves it 😄.

@@ashleymurphy4813 I like the writing in complete sentences so she would be getting a lot of real world writing practice that makes correct grammar usage come naturally rather than trying to memorize definitions or fill out a grammar worksheet.
