    That knife/chisel thing you were talking about sounds like it is VERY much better than you think. Any blade that is inclined to rust is likely to have a very high carbon content which means it's very hard and will hold an edge. The best knives that hold an edge have a mix of high chromium (a component of stainless steel) and high carbon steel. Actually in my opinion, I would rather have a blade made out of file steel that rusts easily, than stainless steel which never rusts. I make all my own cutting tools and my favorite steels come from old saw blades and files. Just polish them, keep them clean and lightly oiled and you have the best tools in the world.

      agung Laksono thank you very much! I really appreciate that my friend. It's my first time making a boat, but hope most of all, I give people courage to build a wooden boat for fun. We don't need to be rich. :)

    Love the tracking idea if it is a crowd/community signaled tracking system. Anyone near the device will pick up on the tracker and feed that info automatically to the main system that can then notify you where the last signal was pinged from your device. As far as hiding it in the boat to where the boat would have to be torn apart, remember that electronic devices need a live feed or batteries.
    Loving the curves, but waiting to see your "fix" for the maligned "gap" in the stripping.
    For future reference, maybe think about figuring out the reduction in the width of the strips and design the forward curves proportionally?

    Hi, Unless the tracker unit is powered by the batteries then the device would run out of power, if you power it from the batteries then the wiring will lead anyone to the location of the tracker, or the power could be disconnected by a thief.

    Andrew, enjoying the videos. I am not sure how a Bluetooth tracking device would work with a stolen boat unless the stolen boat was within 30 feet of your phone and you were wearing a blindfold? Was this humor? I'd write more but I need to find my car keys.....

    • @artisticbrit
      @artisticbrit  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Daniel Culpepper I partially agree, though to be honest, they are used for cars, keys, bikes tools etc. more and more people are using them, so the likelihood of finding the boat is much more significant than without it I'm sure. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos, I think things are about to get interesting as I soon switch over to working on the deck and interior. :)

      I do know that best buy sells trackers online that use GPS cell combo for things similar I actually have one on my dog collar so if she gets out I can tracker her on a map

    • @gabriele5519
      @gabriele5519 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And also don't you need to change the batteries in the tracker or do they last long enough that you don't need to worry about that ?
      And by the way I really enjoy your videos ;-) Keep doing what you like !

    • @artisticbrit
      @artisticbrit  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Steven Royer yes those are brilliant. I have one, it's a small rectangular box, but I need to pay a cell phone service to track it. I like the thought of the crowd funded trackers in the video. But I guess it's hard to say if someone with that app is going to get close enough to the boat to show up on a map… Who knows, but it was cheap enough for me to try at least.

    • @artisticbrit
      @artisticbrit  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gaby ananas they say the batteries last for over a year. So as long as I replace at the end of each summer I should be good for another year. The batteries are cheap enough too. Thank you very much for the kind words. I really appreciate that! :-)

      There are lots of plans, tons of methods, don't listen to the trolls, as there are plenty ;) Just follow your own path to something you like the look of. Check out American Boathead on youtube, his boats are some of what inspired me to design mine from scratch. Whatever you do, have fun.

      It’s how I designed it on paper. I simply built it that way. It rides nicely.

  • @denis9450

    Andrew I hope you are not using Gorilla glue for structural work because it does not work as a filler if there is any gap between the bonding surfaces there is zero strength to the bond check the guy out on youtube testing it comes apart in your hands as if they are not glued but is as good as most glue when it's two flat surfaces together

    • @artisticbrit
      @artisticbrit  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all good. I'm fiberglassing everything structural. Plus plenty of others that have used it before for boats like this. She'll float ;)

    • @artisticbrit
      @artisticbrit  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DENIS REEVES also, as I wait for gas ⛽️ in my car, only flat wood to wood connections are made with the glue. Only one seen has a "filler" type aspect to it, but this will be sealed with epoxy, then fiberglassed.

    • @deanfischer3402
      @deanfischer3402 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The question is how long will it last. A coating of glass will keep water out till it splits due to a weak bond with the joints. Sorry dude your giving it a good try you just need to have better understanding of tight bonds. That flex you think is good is what will be the downfall.
