Ashley, this is absolutely great. My granddaughter was born with hydrocephalus and she needs a hat that is soft enough not to interfere with the shunt. This is great. I will be able to make some there and won't need to worry about taking my machine.
I just made these! Thank you so much for sharing. I can’t believe how easy they are to make. I can’t wait to make matching sets for me & my baby girl! :)
Just found this tutorial and I love how simple it is to make. I have a niece on the way, and I can’t wait make a couple of these for her. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Great tutorial! I made this for my 5 month old quick and easy! I read your blog post and a comment you added on here so I could measure my daughters head correctly.
Fantastic! I want to make a follow up tutorial for that exact reason drafting the pattern for all sizes, glad you were able to figure it out! If you have instagram follow me i would to see a pic! @charmedbyashley
Thank you! My daughter is 6 weeks old and these turbans look ADORABLE on her but they are expensive! Around 16 dollars a piece + shipping. I have 1 I love but I want more colors. Going to Joanna fabrics today and getting some fabric definitely trying my hand at turban making tonight.
Hi Ashley, just wanted to say thanks for this tutorial, it helped me start my business! I mentioned you in my latest TH-cam video and linked back to your tutorial. Here's hoping more people will get inspired, just like i did! :)
Love this, thank you so much! I would love to make one for my little 10 month old girl she is wearing 6-9 month clothes, do you have a slightly bigger pattern available at all please?
I love this turbin….I have downloaded the pattern but I can’t work out how I increase the size from newborn to 6-9 months…..do I increase the complete pattern by about 2”?…….❤️🇦🇺❤️
Its so nice really like it😉 for sure i will try it to make this gor my baby girl😊Thank you for sharing this😉 new subscriber here from Philippines😊 God bless
I didn't see the measurement guide on your page. Please help me with it, I want to make turban for a 6 months old baby. The video is very easy to understand
hello! i was brought here by ctfxc and i am so interested in makig these hats for my neice on the way, just a few questions: - how much fabric do i need (dimentions and size) - what type of fabric is this! thanks so much!
I am sorry I am confused. When you say against the fold, do I fold the material then outline using what I printed out to shape it? I hope that makes sense. I have a daughter and I am looking into learning to make these. Please help thank you
Ya so fold the fabric and place the longest straight side on the fold, cut out and then you will have a mirrored image to gift you the fill patter piece. Hope that also made sense Haha.
here you go!! charmedbyashley.com/turban-hat/ Just so you know all my links will be in the description box below my videos if you check out any other tutorials :D Happy Sewing!
Hi! Nice video! I just wonder why the pattern on de pdf looks different at your video? (Your length, you have more fabric) I just did 3 trials but every time the back is too short. Mmmh...
The pattern should be cut on the fold of your fabric, this will double the size of the pattern piece. on the pattern there are markings to show which side should be against your fold
Have you downloaded the pattern yet? If so the bottom measurement is half of the circumference of their head and the fold measurement is the distance from their neck to their forehead If that makes sense lol I will be posting larger sizes soon just wanted to get the tutorial out
How do you cut the fabric so perfectly? Mine is all jagged around the edges. Also I couldn’t find specific Jersey knit. I don’t think mine is as thick as yours. Is that okay? Very new to this whole sewing thing. You’d think I’d be a pro after 4 girls! Haha
Do you have a good pair of sewing scissors? As long as your fabric has a stretch then you should be good! Thicker will just make it warmer :) sometimes its just trial and error i still make a ton of mistakes and learn and then grow from it! If u cant find a jersey knit then maybe u have an old shirt in the back of the closet you can cut up! Think outside the box when your looking for fabrics :)
New to all things DIY and sewing, looking at the pattern, how do i determine how big the material needs to be? And where it says cut on fold, wont that give me a flat edge instead of a round? Sorry im not sure how to read the pattern.
It doesnt take much fabric, i would get a half yard, half yard can make you 2 to 3 hats. So folding your fabric in half, and then placing the pattern on with the folded edge lined up with the edge of the pattern that says cut on the fold will give you a mirror image of the pattern piece, you will cut it out and then open up the cut fabric and have your piece which will have one long curved edge and one flat edge, refer to the beginning of the video to make sure your fabric shape looks the same as it does in the beginning, If not refer to my Blog post www.charmedbyashley.com Hope this helps!!
Please add or even sell the next size up pattern!! I tried doing what a previous comment said by making it half the inches of the baby’s head circumference but it was wayyyy too big

would it work if I used a sewing machine too?
you can use a long stitch length and sew with your machine, then pull threads to gather of course :D

This is adorable! How much fabric for an infant? How much fabric for an adult?
Half yard would be plenty for both
What are the measurements of the fabric you used?
Hi, I have an 8 month old, do you have a pattern for that age ? I noticed yours says newborn
Can you make this hat with a fabric that has no stretch?
Not really, the stretch is much needed to form over the head properly
What size of fabric did you start off with for the hat?
I'm so confused.. is this two pieces of fabric put together? or just one and cinched around the raw edge?
Its one piece cinched
How did u do the bow? I am lookin to make one for my mom and i...she now started chemo and im a lupie patient.. thanks for makin this available

Hi. Your pattern looks a different shape than what you present in the video. Am I missing something? I really want to try to make these.
