What is Culture?

What does the word "culture" mean? It's one of those words that we all think we know, but if someone asks you to define it, you will tend to say things like, "Yeah man, culture, you know, it's like... uh, culture. Like cultural and stuff... like religion and food..." Huh?
For a textbook definition of culture, I like the one out of the textbook Mirror for Humanity by Conrad Kottak. For him, culture is "traditions and customs that govern behavior and beliefs, distinctly human, and transmitted through learning." Sounds good to me! Now watch the video so I can break all this down into meaningful chunks...

This is a great channel. I’m studying a GIS grad cert at Texas A&M and your channel inspired me to take an archaeology class and a nautical archaeology class. I don’t know if I will be able to pursue it further, but I am enjoying it!
