    I've noticed running a haybine head for the first time is that it feeds better going with the wind or whichever way the plants are leaning... pretty much exact opposite of a bar mower. It's always fun mowing when you can't see the machine behind! Corn maze? How bout a dash through the Clover? Thistle isn't much of an issue as long before it starts to set seeds. Cows won't even notice it in that lol

      It seems to be that way...ya came close to complete plug up a few times

      Noticed the same thing with a haybine. Prevailing winds bends the crop if it is tall and best to follow not force into it.

    crop is tilted little from all the winds.. big wind and heavy rain pushes it down or lean it one way. I've
    had that before very frustrating

    My guess would be just how the crop is leaning? I know we used to have a field where you almost had to cut it all going one direction. It was so tangled up the haybine just would plug. That's all I can think of is it just being the crop. I don't see what else would make it do that only going one way.

    Hopefully it’s not to course. When stalk get bigger than pencils it’s tough on cattle. That tub grinder will be a must. All good

    Yup the clover is leaning out of the header, my Honeybee swather header was the same, i'd just end up going to the other side of the field n working from the East over

    Stuff is awesome for volume. We combined it once. 7 ft tall, swathed it, let it dry down, and the straw alone was 7.5 5x5 bales an acre. We grew one hell of a barley crop off that land the next year cause of all of the nitrogen it fixed. Had 70 acres of it.

    • @chadtosh6831
      @chadtosh6831 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That crop is so heavy, and leaned away from your header, think it binds in ,cause it won’t feed as well into the reel. Have had that in my 499 new holland on a good crop like that. Only solution is slow or a discbine. A real heavy crop of silage barley causes me the same problem with the haybine. Kinda why I bought a discbine, run it in the good crops like that. Keeps my speed up, haybine gets used on the rock piles.

    I farm in quebec beside ottawa hay is selling for 25$ to 40$ a bale 4×5. Tedder are handy cuts your drying time down . If you lay the hay down flat behind haybine would it help dry better.

    Have only read about issues making sweet clover hay because of the blood issues in animals. Is making sweet clover hay a normal thing and people just are overly cautious?

    Do you have access to Plateau chemical up there? We mix that with tordon and 24D and it works pretty good on leafy spurge. That stuff is relentless even if you do kill it off.

  • @farmingnodak
    @farmingnodak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hate to be the one to say it, once you have leafy spurge somewhere, it will always be there... even if you don't see any for several years, expect it to return someday again. Biggest thing is trying to keep it at bay with chemical and keep records of locations where it's at. Spurge REALLY blew up this year on most of the areas that we kept track of, gets worse and worse.

    Don't go north...isn't the swather Hydro swing just turn around at end and DON'T go north...LOL...sometimes with rows of corn chopping or combine could not go one direction...so would have to just drive back to other end, YES it sucked but better than being plugged up every 20 yards...LOL/meters...FOOD for Thought: In USA the grass and trees around house is called Yard but in Canada where you don't use inches, feet, or yards shouldn't it be called Meter, but then what would you call the electric or gas meter?..LOL ! But it will be great feed. Back when I had cows had two pastures that held 20 cows each one natural prairie the other resewn grass and clover. The calves in clover pasture would weigh 100 to 200 pounds more than others in the fall, one year it was taller than my pickup that was 4-wheel drive with a 4" lift kit, was scary just checking tanks in pickup. would have to take horse to check cattle, that year calves were taller than the cows when rounded them up!!!
