  • The verdict is read in the Driveway Shooting Trial. Kevin Monahan was convicted of second degree murder, reckless endangerment and tampering in connection with the April 2023 death of Kaylin Gillis.

      Confinement would be a luxury as that would avoid him contact with other inmates. Life in normal prison for a wealthy man like him will be tougher

    JUSTICE for Kaylin Gillis, the victim's family and friends. Also justice for our community. I'm pretty definitely certain that Kevin Monohan gets to head to prison pretty soon when sentenced.

    It is good to see the justice system work as it is designed. The case was open and shut. Kevin Monahan displayed depraved indifference to human life that night. As there is no way to bring Kaylin Gillis back, the best that can be done is to see Monahan go to prison for the remainder of his life. I hope this serves, in some small way, to help begin the healing for the Gillis family, Kaylin's friends, and the community as a whole. -This is more proof that fear-based ideologies lead to tragedies. May Kaylin now rest in peace.

    I am so pleased with this verdict. I am still deeply saddened for Ms. Gillis' family. Nothing will bring your beautiful daughter back, and I am so so sorry for her senseless death!!💯🥺😢💔🙏

      ​@Scarywoody It wasn't no defense, or his attorneys fault. He is 100% guilty. You don't shoot somebody for turning around in your driveway. Then, he tried lying his way out of it, by telling the police there wasn't anything going on at his house, maybe it was hunters in the woods.
      It is not about the 2'nd amendment. He legally owned the gun. You can't kill somebody just because they pulled in your driveway. Guilty.

      This is more like the Michael Dunn case. This guy was bothered by them so he shot into someone's car. The only difference is they were on his private property so he thought he had a right to shoot them.

    If they put Mr. Monahan in gen-pop, I am sure his fellow inmates there will be 'eager to help him settle in'...watching these proceedings, I am so deeply sorry this happened. Also makes me think of all the times we've ever gotten lost out in the country, made a right instead of a left, wrong exit...whatever. Then backed into somebody's driveway, just to make a U turn, and head back to the main road. Wow. Just wow.

      that's why YOU were not on the jury-you are too biased; the law of self defense does not allow you to shoot anytime you wish-you would not have given ANY victim a Fair Trial.
