The more I see what Atari is doing, the stronger I believe that the guys that are running the company are trying to return Atari back to the level they once were in the industry. Also, by adding 12 new free games sends a positive message to the fans. Like hey, thanks for buying our new products, so here's a bit of a bonus for being loyal customers. I like the direction Atari is moving in.
Now if only they'd look into the 2600/5200/7800 homebrew community and decided to publish good original homebrew games as official Atari products... Would buy to support both the Atari and the devs.
7800 Food Fight is a glaring omission. To me, it was a killer app on that system (by mid 1980s standards, but still a great game). I would actually gladly pay for it as DLC.
I played that on the XE. I feel like, if you want one thing to represent the XE era (such at it was) ya got Food Fight or Ballblazer. But - yeah. I played the XE version of Food Fight growing up, and I turned out okay an’ never robbed a bank or nuthin’.
It is cool they're completely free, If they do more, I'd like some later console stuff, maybe even a Jaguar CD title as that's the only system not featured on the collection.
No matter what games they add, they'll never be better than my favorite game, "Spot Larry in the comment section of a random TH-cam video I clicked on"
Nice video! I enjoy your laid-back presentation. I am happy that Atari is supporting their customers. I would not mind if they did end up releasing DLC. If they released some licenced content like Activision, Parker Bros. etc. - that would be amazing. I would really love to see some of the MIA Universal games like Mr. Do!. The could also add some indie games, like the port of Ladybug from Champ Games. Who wouldn't find that exciting???
You mention that you "have to use" a Pro Controller for analog/paddle games. That's supported, but so are the analog sticks on JoyCons. More importantly, you can use the touchscreen on Switch for paddle and trakball games -- that's always on by default for handheld play. If you haven't tried it, do! And don't forget Touch Me, which...you can actually rotate to vertical mode with the R bumper and then physically touch.
Unfortunately, Atari didn’t make Fast Food, it’s a third party game from a company called Telesys. My dad didn’t play video games often but that was his favorite game.
@@thetechn1que518 that was one of my favorites too. It was funny though.. I had to play it on a black and white television so as a result I couldn't tell the green pickles from the purple pickles lol made the game much more difficult 😅
Circus Atari has got to be one of the first survival horror games ever as you are playing as 2 victims as they playing a game of breakout on a seesaw as they must complete the level to win as if one of them loose that they will have their head smash on the ground as you can see blood everywhere. It's the ultimate game of survival in a Saw like puzzle.
Adventure was one of my first games that wasn't generic for the Atari VCS (as it was known before the '2600' was added to the name) from late 70's early 80's, back when your imagination had to do half of the work. This was a game for thinkers and problem solvers and DnD players. Playing this sequel is like playing the original for the first time all over again. RPG and adventure games owe their very existence to this game. This video is excellent as is most of yours, but don't sell short the fan base which was and still is astronomical for Atari classic games, and especially for Adventure.
To be frank I only got this collection for Cybermorph, Atari Kart, and Tempest 2000, every other games on here are a bonus to me. I would had bought these three games on their own even if they are not part of the collection. Only disappointment I see here is that they didn't include any Jaguar CD games such as Battlemorph, Primal Rage, Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands, and Blue Lightning otherwise the rest of the collection are damn worth it.
Circus atari is hard without paddles Comparatively. But I owned the game back in the day so hours of play. And gravitar is missing but on the flashback classics switch cart . I just ordered. Cool video 👍🏽
Fingers crossed for 7800 Food Fight! Licensing will most likely prevent the 7800 version of Joust from being added, which is a shame because the 7800 version is hands-down the best, playing even better than the arcade.
The paddle games can use the touchpad on PlayStation. This is actually how I discovered that the touchpad is completely useless: there’s no comfortable way to hold the DualShock/DualSense and use the pad at the same time.
I started gaming with the 2600 and loved it as a kid….well not ET😊 However I just can’t go back to it. The NES really took gaming into the modern area in my opinion.
While many want Activision games on here l'd much rather get a full Activision collection much like the one I played on the GBA that had a large variety. Especially Pitfall 1 and 2.
This game is almost worth buying. I never buy an Atari Collection that doesn't include Demon Attack. That was the game my mom played when she was pregnant with my brother and me. I avoid any collection that doesn't include that game.

Agreed. The omission of the 2600 version of Berserk also hurts. I'd pay for Food Fight and Berserk.
@@LordelXRegarding Berserk, they may not have rights to it anymore. No idea why Food Fight is missing, maybe it breaks the emulation or something?
Really wish Roboton 2084 (5200) was on there. Midway so I guess that’s why.
We had Bowling on the 2600 back in the 80s. My father and I played it quite a bit.
atari 50 got an update? neat stuff! great video pojr!
I love the the Atari 50 celebration. That collection is a huge part of why i bought a VCS. I'm very happy with Atari has been doing lately.
I loved the collection when it was released and I appreciate the free DLC from Atari. Glad to see they haven’t forgotten about it.
This is cool, I would really like to see more from the Atari 8-bit computer line of games.
It is cool they're completely free, If they do more, I'd like some later console stuff, maybe even a Jaguar CD title as that's the only system not featured on the collection.

@@andrewdowell6474 At least all my DLC is free too :P
Very true. I didn't even think of that console when I made this video.
Did you pass the exam? If you did, congrats and Marry Christmas!

I grew up playing the Atari 2600, and Atari 50 is a great compilation. I’m hoping that we also get an Activision compilation too, at some point.
I actually didn’t mind warbirds coming back because that’s the only game I have memories playing as a kid even though it’s not that good a game
Great breakdown, pojr. It must be a lot of work making these videos every week, you're doing a good job.
Really appreciate that!

I actually like bowling in the 2600. One time, me and my friends a few years ago played it for like 2 hrs as we slammed some brews
I loved Super Football back in the day, it was impressive
Even though I never cared much for Atari, it makes me happy that Atari still has a lot of fans out there.
PLOT TWIST: I still have my fully working Atari from my childhood with all the games I like. (But I only play Seaquest)
Sometimes the home setup is the best way to go!!
Nice update! I was hoping for Fast Food for the 2600 to be added. For whatever reason it doesn't appear on any of the Atari collections.
I mostly bought it for the documentary alone and anything else is a bonus!

A couple of atari games that should be on there are
-rikki and vikki atari 7800
-zaku atari lynx
-solaris 2600
-pitfall duoligy if possible

Slam Dunk is awesome👍 Atari’s been doing a lot right lately. Makes me happy.
I love how Atari is like "yeah, we know you are our fans. Here are more games for you to enjoy completely free". These guys are just awesome.
This was a solid product on release. I enjoyed the package as a whole. I still have to check out the new releases, but anything extra is gravy :)
Circus atari is hard without paddles Comparatively. But I owned the game back in the day so hours of play.
And gravitar is missing but on the flashback classics switch cart . I just ordered. Cool video 👍🏽
I really hope the next update (if there's one) brings us some more non-2600 stuff.
Still to this day I'm waiting for a release of Space Dungeon for the 5200.
Fingers crossed for 7800 Food Fight! Licensing will most likely prevent the 7800 version of Joust from being added, which is a shame because the 7800 version is hands-down the best, playing even better than the arcade.
I love using the SNES controller to play that’s games. I can’t get past level 2 on Save Mary 🤷🏻
I would love to see a c380 simulator. I love playing rebound and breakout, but my c380 has some broken logic and it likes to glitch out
The paddle games can use the touchpad on PlayStation. This is actually how I discovered that the touchpad is completely useless: there’s no comfortable way to hold the DualShock/DualSense and use the pad at the same time.
I’m pretty sure all 12 of those games are available on other compilations.
Yeah, a lot of them are. But it's nice they're on here now.
Pojr boy is back!
I'd love to see a newer version of pacman on an official release because those of us who got shafted back in the day deserve better.
More 5200 and 7800 games next time Atari? Great video POJR!
I started gaming with the 2600 and loved it as a kid….well not ET😊

So you're more into the Jaguar and Lynx stuff in Atari 50?

All I want is space cavern :(
Any idea how to download it. I have the PC version.
Goty every time they add more dlc to this collection.
I am a simple man. I want Berserk. I love Berserk and Atari has the rights now.
This game is almost worth buying. I never buy an Atari Collection that doesn't include Demon Attack. That was the game my mom played when she was pregnant with my brother and me. I avoid any collection that doesn't include that game.
Give Microgammon SB, you cowards!
...please? 🥺
Atari 50th is fine with it's add-ons but i think you need lose the homeless guy in a jacket look....just sayin.
