Having actually been a trapper, and having many in my family, I would argue it is the Spay blade that makes the knife a “Trapper”. You get a general use blade in the clip point, for making trap setups, and a spay blade as you actually will be skinning. It isn't the most perfect skinning blade, but I couldn’t imagine getting a fully rounded tip blade to work well on the knife. Cheers.
Great video!! I agree 100% on this!! It has many uses and the profile very similar to the clip. I think a lot of people hear a non outdoorsman bash it and hopped on the hate train. Those are 5 killer Slipjoints for sure to be carrying around!! That Viper is killer!!

The only useless thing about any blade is the lack of imagination of the user. You just have to take your time and think about the cut you are going to make. I love your vintage knives. Yea I agree, to me a sharpened piece of steel is just a sharpened piece of steel, some designs are obviously suited for certain tasks but at the end of the day they’ll all cut most things. I've got a Case Copperhead with a spey blade. I prefer it to my Copperhead with the pen blade, mainly for it's versatility. I like a spey blade for scoop cuts while carving and if the spey has more sweep I like it for skewing and plunging type cuts as well. I have a few whittlers with pen blades that don't see as much use as my whittlers with a small clip, coping and or sheepsfoot. Some carvers like a pen blade, I'm not one of them. My primary use for a pen blade is using it to cut something I probably shouldn't be using a knife for. That razor of yours is more appealing that all the other razors I've seen put together. Very nice!

Sweet looking knives and BLADES lol. I am with you there. I will use what ever blade i pull out. I don't own any knives with a spay blade, not that i wont buy a knife with that blade because i would. I am not a blade snob lol. As long as that blade will cut, it's getting used lol.

I really dig the look of the large pen blade in copperheads and razors for some reason! Now that’s a top 5 set of bangers! I think I need to show my 5 favorites too!! I’m a timex fellow myself! I normally just wear mine til it breaks and get a new one! Currently I have the orange faced expedition! I love all useless blades! All knives matter brother!

A jack with a sheepfoot was a fairly common pattern at one point. I have a schatt and morgan version, but it's too nice to use. Not much surprises me anymore, but the fact that no one is producing that pattern is on the list. 😁
I think people look at blade shapes and like what they look like more than what there named or intended to do. If they have a choice in using one over another they pick the one they like the look of over others. That does not make it the best choice if they have two or three different blades to pick for using. Long blades are better for cutting a sandwich, short blades are better for sharpening pencils. Pencil sharping has no need for a pointy tip. You will cut yourself less using the shortest blade that does the task best. You also have more control using a short blade. Knife collectors are like a flock of chickens one starts clucking and the rest do to. They have no idea why they joined in but do it anyway. 🤔

I can’t think of a blade I actually dislike, this was just a comparison of two old blade designs that one of which people deem useless and the other they seem to love and they’re both technically outdated but in my mind both, especially the Spey, still very useful! Thank you for watching

The trapper isn’t one of my favorite patterns but I have to agree that the Spey blade is useful and can do more then just process animals.

I use my pen blade constantly. The clip blade as well. I don’t need a trapper it’s to thick. Equal end/opposite ends forever .
