ECU didn't want Kanye. Only NC State, SC State, and App showed any interest. He stuck with App late because App stuck with him. A culture of family is what exists in Boone and that's what ECU is missing. There is no continuity, there are no roots, and ECU fired its only Pirate head coach for a wide receiver coach from Duke. So ECU has a culture issue whereas App's roots in its culture go back to around 1989.

LOL out the ECU and AAC fans saying App State is good because they take partial qualifiers because the Sun Belts academic standards are lesser than the American Athletic's. Newsflash, App has been having to turn away guys going back to at least 2004 when I started following recruiting. Anyone who would partially qualify is not accepted. In FCS days they may be recommended for JuCo or a Military Academy where App would recruit after they got their grades up. In FBS, that hasn't been a thing and numerous qualifying, much less partial qualifiers, have had to be turned away for a variety of reasons. Furthermore, if you want to compare academics at App and ECU, we can do that comparing the standing of programs, admissions, and post graduate success on like for like programs. App doesn't have much in the way of doctoral programs or research thanks to how the UNC System divies up resources.
