I like collecting for the art work on the coin. International coin collection is cheap and fun. Just get in the habit of asking your friends to pick up coins for you when they go on trips!

When the silver was taken out of the coins thats what killed the hobby in my opinion.

I am collecting coins from around the world from my birth year. It's interesting and challenging as I learn about what countries existed then (but not now), different designs and denominations, and also how to identify dates on foreign coins.

I've found most of my coin deals on eBay, but Ben is right, you have to know or study your coins to know if they are counterfeit or not. And of course have them tested right away if you are unsure.

Hey, can you do a show about properly storing your coins? Say for instance, Dansco vs CAPS vs Whitman albums or 2x2 vs flips or simple airtites. Are all these methods safe for long term storage? Are the any potential negative effects of a certain storage method. Thanks for your videos. They are informative and enjoyable!

You most likely overpaid for the item. Most TV or radio ads are companies that sell at prices well above the market average.

Hello again coin geek. I’m just getting back to you to let you know that I got a good price on that buffalo dollar coin MS 70 on a advertisement that was aired on TV at the time gold was 1300 Oz I paid 1270 for the Indian buffalo 24 karat 1 ounce gold coin. that I thought was awesome price today that coin goes for much more money anywhere you want to purchase it. and I respect what you’re saying but I did get lucky buying on TV ads

@thecoingeek I bought some coins the other day and i got charged about $37 dollars in tax do most coinshops charge taxes? i had payed a couple hundred for some coins I’d really appreciate your answer because i didn’t really liked getting charged so much in taxes for collectibles I don’t know if that’s a common thing in coinshops

Every state, county, city and town have their own tax codes. Many places have taxes that effect coins. Others do not.

Thanks for the heads up. You seem very honest. Very new at this but have some old coins and just starting to figure out what they are worth. It's fun finding an old coin and not sure what the resell value is but it's still fun when you open a customer rolled coin roll and find something cool. They are out there, I can feel it!! Thanks again!

Let's hear it for the postage stamp collectors! They need Ben's support. Maybe Ben can start another channel called StampGeek.

I’m collecting now for my kids and grandkids. So the coins aren’t the usual key-dates or type sets collections. I try and collect them based on significant events, e.g births, graduations, or some other personal achievement. Occasionally I’ll get a couple for myself and I love Peace and Morgan dollars.
I don’t try and keep up with what others are doing and how they’re creating their collections. Building a set that’s fun and sometimes challenging is my motivation and right now I’m having fun at it.
I recently started making my lil modest collection more attractive by organizing them better in albums, and updating records of purchase with notes why a particular coin was added. Hopefully, that will add interest and a bit of family history for them. I may even put them in a time capsule. Lol
Those coins may not make healthy, wealthy or wise but, if it becomes somewhat of a treasure to enjoy I’d be happy. After all there’s not a right way in coin collecting. THE END 😎🥸😇

How do you collect coins? You just start holding onto them without spending them, that simple! 😁
