Cor-tek are really killing it at the moment - they're making the very well received PRS SE models, their own Cort guitars are very well specced midrange guitars, and as of this week they're reissued the DOD/Digitech pedal line having bought the brand last year.

    • @terrypussypower

What? Cort are reissuing DOD effects??? Wow! Hearing that’s made my day! I have several DOD effects that are now non functional due to severe abuse! I hope they’re manufacturing them the same way DOD did!

Partially, is to make the hype bigger...
I mean afaik they do check each unit at their US location after in arrives from Indonesia... Probably they want to make sure no lemons get out, but they also released multiple new SE's so, probably they are stuck there at QC ...
Nobody knows if they had to "send back" stuff to Indonesia. If they did, they wouldn't make it public... I see current SE lineup as trying to be the de-facto quality-wise guitar within the $600-$900 bracket.
I really dig this DGT on paper, I would love to hold one before buying thought 😅

I love this guitar so much, I bought two, I use some open tunings and you have to adjust the tremolo springs to get that correct for open tunings. My DGT stays in tune and the pickups sound as good as my 1959 LP. This is a desert island guitar!!!! Everything works and it sounds and plays incredible!!! I love mine beyond words!!!

You should definitely also try out the core DGT model. I think the DGT is one of the best PRS offerings, where several factors that DG changed about the regular PRS models just add up to produce a greater whole: the trem with the 5 springs (core model), the bigger frets and w11s strings, the pickups, the dual volumes, the neck shape etc.

(I have contacted sellers found through these sites & offered to buy direct with the same guarantees. That has worked and got me a lower sales price because it save the seller money! I used to feel the same way about Taylor’s Mexican made instruments. Honestly, I started playing guitar in the late 80s and never paid attention to Taylor at all until the T-5 came out in 2005, at that time I also discovered the 600 series models. I had never even looked at any other Taylors besides those two lines until the guitar store that I call “my local guitar store” (it’s actually about 30 miles away from home) became a Taylor dealer in 2020 two weeks before Covid started shutting everything down. I went in that week to see their first shipment, because I wanted to look at T-5s and 600 series models. They didn’t get any T-5s, because they’re also Fender dealer and we’re focused on selling the American Acoustasonics. The only 600 series model they got (a 614ce) was the first Taylor they sold so there were no 600 series model’s either. However, a Koa GS-Mini caught my eye, and I just loved it. I ended up going back and buying it a few days later.

Phil McKnight was doing some dive bombs on his DGT SE demo unit so it is possible. I’m not sure if he did anything special to the trem set-up beforehand. He didn’t mention doing anything to it which makes me think not but can’t really say.

I never could get into PRS SE, every time I tried one out at my local guitar shop I quickly eliminated from the short list of potential candidates. They are nice looking guitars but there is something I don't like about playing them that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe one day I will find one I like but I have tried over 10 different models and each time I arrived at the conclusion...nope...not for me.

You have to be joking. The pickups ARE the only thing I thought were bad in this guitar, and the middle position split has THE most unpleasant sound.

I find the accessories that you mention in these videos kind of interesting. In my lifetime, I’ve owned 10 guitars. Two of them were stolen, so now I have 8. Of the original 10, only two ever came with any actual accessories. My first electric guitar (an off-brand strat knock-off) came with a tremolo bar and a few allen wrenches… and that’s all. Later, I bought an Ibanez that also came with a tremolo bar… and nothing else.
I even bought a very nice Fender strat that came with nothing! It didn’t even have a tremolo bar included in the package! I had to buy one separately!
I’ve never gotten any kind of owner’s manual or even warranty cards!
Am I the only one who’s run into this?
I can’t really blame it on the shops that I’ve purchased them from because I didn’t buy them all from the same shop.
Is it normal for guitar/music stores to remove the guitars from their boxes when they receive them and then just throw the accessories away? 🤔

My last 3 guitars were a Gibson and two Fenders. The Gibson had a thin leather strap, a nice multi tool kind of swiss army knife like, a picture of the guitar on the setup bench, a CoA, owners manual, and a signed QC card. The Fenders had a T-Handle truss rod adjust tool, a couple cheap allen keys, an extra set of strings, a decent zipper pouch, owners manual, and a CoA. Obviously the tags. Nothing too spectacular but its nice getting some candy with new guitars. It doesn't cost them all that much.

Yes, it is normal for a guitar store to remove the instruments from their boxes when they receive, but it IS NOT normal from them to discard the other contents of the box.
That being said, I’m pretty sure some guitars don’t come with anything else in the box.
I own multiple Fender products and everything that came with a gig bag or a hard case at the very least had a warranty card and the trem bar (if applicable). The more expensive ones came with a strap and some came with a cable also.
I currently still own three Squiers, and have owned several others previously. The only Squier I have owned that came with any extras was The Wayne’s World Strat that came out around the time the first Wayne’s World movie was released. It came with warranty paperwork (I think it also had a Strat owners manual that described how the controls worked) and a sheet of stickers.
I own two Gibsons that I bought used. I don’t have the “baby pictures” for either of them, but I do have everything else that came with them.
My Fender 59 Bassman LTD Reissue amp that I bought used still has the cardboard information card that describes the features of the amp.

Sorry for all Gibson aficionados out there, but I would prefer my PRS Al Di Meola every time over my SG-Standard. It got better tones, playability is better, got way better tuning stability and better over all build quality and I have to say: that DGT sounds better than 80% of all Les Pauls I heared on this channel. Just my opinion.

  • @timwhite5562
    @timwhite5562 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't know who they haven't gone to using two volume and master tone controls on the other guitars, the master volume/tone layout has always been such a drawback. As much of a pain in the ass as it is on the solid bodies, it's absolutely insane on the Hollowbodys, it was a deal breaker 15 years ago when I bought a 335. Most semi hollow players leave the pickup selector in the middle and use the volume controls to dial in the tone, which is impossible with a master volume unless you want to replace it with a dual stacked pot or replace the tone with another volume, which is something I couldn't do, I ride my tone knob almost as much as the volume.
I was impressed with the SE 594s, a bit less so here. I hate those speed knobs on the SEs, not that they can't be swapped, but they're dumb anyway.

The PRS Goldtop doesn't look as great, since there is no white/ivory binding. The Maple strip is out of place. And the dark stained Mahogany back meets the Goldtop in all the wrong places. An all Goldtop body with white binding would have been a better finish.
