- Tristan Jarry scored the Penguins FIRST NHL goalie goal!! Last season, we got to see Linus Ullmark with a beauty of a goalie goal which was at the time, the first on in the NHL in 3 years. This doesn’t just happen all the time BUT, tonight we got another!! The 17th in NHL history. As The Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins, they found themselves down late, pulled Vasilevskiy and the rest is now history. History, as in the first goalie goal in Penguins history, the 17th in NHL history and just a beautiful thing to see if your a Pens fan like I am! I cover it all in todays NHL video

No matter which team you root for a goalie goal is something to be celebrated. I'm not a fan of either team really, but I do admire the "goalie goals"...damn amazing rare shot...and man, that puck had some serious air time. Good job, Jarry😜

I am a huge Penguins fan and will never understand why people think so highly of Flurry. He is one of the most inconsistent goalies of all time. I was so happy when we traded him away.

I've had the centre ice package ever since Sid started in the NHL and have watched just about every one of his games. Sid grew up about 15 minutes from where I live. He's a great Hockey player and an even better person.
Doesnt matter who you root for... a goalie taking one full ice is something you have to applaud 💯 And that one was a beauty 👌
Interesting thing to note: this is the 17th goalie goal in NHL history, but only the 10th goalie goal from a goalie shooting the puck directly in the net. A handful of goalie goals are attributed to own goals where the last person to touch the puck was the opposing goalie. This happens far less than even the statline shows.
In my hockey pool I'm in a goalie goal is worth 20 points because of how rare they are. The commissioner of the Pool refuses to give me the points now, says the 20 points for a goalie goal was "a joke" 😂 RIP

We do the same thing but we reward 50 points for a goalie goal, 20 is not enough

I'm curios by nature and so had to look it up. The bolts came very close to scoring after, Jarry's, goal, had they, that would have made his goal a game winning goal... the first time ever in NHL history.
Jarry was an idiot for even attempting it. They were only up one, and there was a minute left in the game. Had he not scored, it would have been icing, and a faceoff in the Pen's zone with the Pens being out numbered because of the pulled goalie. Real stupid play by Jarry, but he is a hero because it did not cost the team. He should focus more on keeping pucks out of his own net instead of hail-marying them into the opponents. I seriously hoped he missed, then got scored on, to tie it, and then get scored on again.
@@apointtomake1517 point taken, but how many times have you seen a defensemen or forward do the same thing only to have the goalie save their sorry ass the next face-off. He did and had it failed he would be the one on the hot seat. Just looking at your handle I have a pretty good idea what your whole goal is. Troll.

this was so amazing to witness watching live (via streaming app, haven't made it to a in person game just yet)! i am new to watching hockey so a lot of the time i feel so out of the loop and like an outsider bc so many amazing things happening before i was a fan, but watching history being made by Jarry was truly something special and i'm a penguins fan so that made it more special

It was cool to see Rusty celebrate on the bench for Jarry. The way he didm you would have thought they were about to win another Cup! And that pass from Malkin to DOC was sick!

To put this in perspective, there have been only 15 unassisted triple plays in baseball. Very rare indeed.

When I learned it was the first Penguins goalie goal, I was actually surprised. I really thought Fleury had one, it just seems like something he would have done.

I watched the game on live tv and as a pens fan I was so hype to see my first ever goalie goal and also Jarry has been looking for a goal for a while tried once against Buffalo in 2020 I think and last year tried twice last year against the avalanche and missed both. Edit: Jarry has also scored a goal in the ahl as well
Sad that flower never got his (yet), but pretty magical to see someone in the Black & Gold notch one into the history books

The Penguins have now gone 20 days without a power play goal, but in that time they've been scored on shorthanded and their goalie and Jeff Carter has now scored.

Up until last year, I’d never seen pulling the goalie work. I started working as an usher at an arena last November, and of the dozen or so empty nets I saw working those WHL games 7 were scored on, and there were only 2 times where the extra player managed to score. Both times happened on a power play. Frankly I’m surprised goalie goals don’t happen way more often.
You don’t really have anything to lose pulling the tendy though so it doesn’t really matter

@@Jacknffc7980 Well, you can irritate your own players. Especially when you're down 2-3 with 5 minutes left, and they pull your goalie... and you get scored on. -1 for you! When contract negotiations come up: "-4 for the season, appears you struggle in the defensive department..." And even, better is when you're down 1, pull goalie, get scored on, pull goalie again, down 2.... get scored on... Yep, great for morale.

Thats' a really dumb move to try with .51 seconds still left in the game, had he missed it would have been icing and would have set up a faceoff back in his zone with plenty of time for the other team to score. He got really lucky there.
