I I don't disagree that small kits are awesome, I did a recording session for an artist this morning on a 4 piece with a crash a ride and hats and loved every minute of it, but "shows more creativity" isn't anywhere near accurate. To perform a crazy solo or something on a small kit and make it sound awesome is cool, but some of the most interesting and talented players in the world play huge kits, Peart, Mangini, Portnoy, Minnemann, Beauford etc etc (not that I'm anywhere near those guys).

Crazy how it’s been 10 years since this cover released and it’s still one of my favorites covers of this song to this day.
Do everything very slowly at first, one limb at a time. EX: Play the part of the beat with your right hand. Now Left hand. Now right foot. Now right hand and right foot. right hand and left hand. left hand and right foot etc etc etc until you feel comfortable with how each part works together. Then add in a 3rd limb and then a 4th. If you keep it slow but gradually build it up, it will come to you!

Thanks! I really appreciate that! I do a little mixing on them, mostly checking the final mix for headphone compatibility, but it seems that if the mix sounds great on my first 2 sources it sounds even better on the headphones. I know its completely backwards from normal logic, but I've been mixing on laptop speakers since most of my audience uses them. My MBP Retina has awesome laptop speakers, so I use those to try&cater to the masses. On my KRKs its usually just a bit bass heavy but rocking!

man you guys obviously dont know what it means to be a drummer and playing drum COVERS if you dont like the awesome way he plays then dont watch or even comment. he has mad skills and like what was said before its HIS cover. any band would be privelidged to have him and if he was to be serious im sure he can be. but whats the point of playing the song the exact way it was recorded?

But since it's just him and his drums, Casey can be as creative as be wants. Every drummer including me loves to, what you call, "smother" songs with drums. I didn't know music had rules. Casey has his channel full of his drum covers "smothered" or non smothered and that's what people need to understand

I've done that for hundreds of covers, now I've got the gear to mix it up a bit and do something that very few on TH-cam have ever done :) Just having some fun and doing some new things!

Oh the heads are sweet if you want to convert an acoustic to electric or get the e-Pro Live kit! They feel very close to real drums (especially compared to other e-drums) and the real sizes are awesome for not losing the feeling of playing on a normal kit!

I don't think you understand the difference in sound, let me explain.
#1 the change in "crispness" is the change in heads & tuning. The Remo coated emperors are more of a warmer tone with less attack. If I put the clear pinstripes on this kit, it would have more attack and less tone.
#2 These drums are on a whole new level from the old kit in sound. You need good speakers or headphones with good low end to hear it, but they have an INCREDIBLY deep tone. Extremely impressive for an affordable kit

Well this is his cover, showcasing his skills. It's not exactly a recording for album from a band or something, this is him putting his own skills into songs.
I just feel like he could never drum like that practically on a gig. a singer, bassist, or guitarist would totally get pissed about him walking all over their parts. He definitely does have speed and stamina though.

AJDiamondSkull If you've been playing drums for long enough and had sufficient practice on the same kit, playing in the dark is no challenge. One of my previous drum teachers was blind and played in a metal band :)

The main reason is that when I was at Pearl's headquarters in Nashville they let me try the Pearl Precision Monitors and I loved them! But also: I went all out and saved up for Shure SE535s (top of the line consumer/non custom in ears) and although the sound was good I ended up having to turn them WAY up and blast my ears just to overpower my drums and since they were directly in my ear it was even worse for my hearing. The over the ears is less direct sound.

Thanks! The e-Pro allows you to have two layers per instrument, so I created a snare sound with a piccolo snare as the main sound with a clap sound effect as the second layer. I thought it matched the original track nicely and gave a cool change for the verses :)

You're a fairly solid drummer but one question; Why do your drums always sound so flat? Is it a personal preference? Is it the heads you use? Is it your tuning? Just curious because you seem to have access to great and crazy amounts of gear so I figured that your drums would sound a little better. Good drumming though. It's good to see someone really enjoying themselves while they're playing. Cheers.

I think it's an electric kit. Which means he can control the sound. At least I think it's an electric kit.
@@sallyavantmusic not all of it. Only a few of the parts in this are electric. The majority of it is acoustic.
This is really good cover man all the people complaining are just crazy this kit sounds much better and the songs you do are incredibly varied to fit all of your audiences and not only that but shows you as a better drummer as you can do a wide range of genres if people cant understand that then they are just complaining for the sake of it keep up these amazing covers you are a real inspiration to my drumming and have helped me a lot man!

Pearl Precision Monitors! They're made by Beyer Dynamic. Very impressed with the sound and comfort of the headphones. My only complaint is they don't stay on my head sometimes, but then again no headphones ever do lol

Brandon Auchterlonie He plays on that same kit, he just took a lot of stuff down to make it more like other sets. People complained about not having a set that related to theirs.

What is not the same? The color of my drum set? My drums sound better than ever, my recordings are better than ever and I've got new incredible sounding cymbals to add new colors to the mix. Change is always good as long as its for the better and all those things I've listed above definitely are. There isn't an "old Casey" because I'm the same exact person I was, just playing some different gear and getting some incredible new opportunities to do really cool drumming stuff. Its all positive :)
People comment things like this every once and awhile and it always confuses me... Out of my last 11 covers ONE has been "poppy", this one (although personally I think this is a pretty sick track! But besides that, out of the last 11 I have covered MUSE, TOTO, NIRVANA, EARTH WIND & FIRE, LINKIN PARK... I have no clue how one pop cover outweighs all of that? lol
If I posted 1 cover a month then yeah... But unlike most TH-camrs I've posted 11 covers in the past 3 weeks+Other types of vids!

I wouldn't say permanent. I like to show everyone all sorts of awesome gear to consider getting themselves, but I don't want people to come to my videos and think "I can't play like him cause I don't have all that gear" so I'll probably be doing a lot of different variations of gear! Maybe even some small/mini kits soon!
