    Got so much more out of this as an adult. Jonathan slowly learns that everything is BS: society, his lifestyle, the one relationship he cared about -- even the game he is so good at has an ulterior motive. But he can only find meaning & purpose in the game, his only way to declare his individualality and will.

    When the film was in production, the artsy story side was constantly being expounded on in the international media.Several documentaries were made.He was a Canadian film maker, working in Germany and the UK, on an American movie.The story line was about our future world.Today the violence and effects can not compare to modern movie making, but that might be the movies point.Violence, providing distraction of the people, so they can more easily be controlled.

      @@gregoryhitchcock5258 screens and the media. The matrix is a step further down the line than this. Look at how much people are buried in their phones, on their own, today. That’s the matrix. Look at how huge corporations like blackrock and vanguard own everything, including all media organisations. How the alphabet agencies have people on the board of companies like Facebook and Google, as do blackrock and vanguard. The way sports, wrestling, Hollywood and computer games have become such military industrial complex controlled mediums is frightening

    Witchman, I thought I saw another strange team in blue as well. I believe some footage of Houston vs these two teams, Paris and blue, was used at the party in the movie.

    Did you remember? This story was set for 2018. That is it this year.

      @nagare ryoma:
      When does this film ever say what year it is? I'm pretty sure that it never references any year, and always takes place in the "near future" no matter when you watch it. More in-depth, it's a dystopian future that one would be better off to avoid in as much as possible.

    I am looking at the purple uniforms and the scoreboard that says "PAR." I wonder if what we are seeing was an unused scene between Houston and Paris?
    Thanks for the post.

      L L Cool J said it was a re-mix not a re-make and he was right. On it's own as an 'action' movie it was OK, But no where near Rollerball.
