Hi Sam! Such a useful video! A couple of years ago, I had leatherjackets, but I didn't know these hudge mosquitoes were responsible for them. I thought they were harmless since they didn't bite us. For the leatherjackets, I sprayed with Bacillus Thuringiensis, mixed with sugar, and it was effective (have you heard of it?) is not a chemical! You know me, I refuse to use any chemicals on the lawn. I'm looking forward to seeing how the covering method works. By the way, your lawn looks amazing! Thanks for the video.
Hey Lucy! Thanks, never heard of that mix, but I really want to try it, sounds awesome to use a non chemical way of dealing with them. I also hope my caveman method works too 😂 Always appreciate you dropping by! 🙏
Had leather jackets for years now. After treating the lawn with nematodes every autumn also using shauns turfsov in-between, this year so far hasn't been bad. I had dead patches all over the lawn for years! They are an absolute nightmare!!! I've used your search and destroy method too which made me laugh as I'm not the only one who's done that 😂 I remember a few years back mowing the lawn and seeing swarms of daddy long legs flying up from the grass. You can get on top of it pal.....just keep doing what your doing .
Hey Richard! Feels nice to know that I am not alone in my caveman method 😂 I hope I can deal with them this way instead of using Nematodes, seems so complicated. Thanks for dropping by, appreciate it mate!
Grass is looking good, my friend, wonder if theres a natural repelent for those things, like mint, lavender, cinnamon or something else. I spray water and mint oil around my house every so often to keep mice away
try larvex I live in the Netherlands where we can no longer get pesticides I now use it twice a year and the damage this year is much less than last year. greetings

Hey Stefan, Was also looking into something like that but haven´t really fund anything. Will try some different stuff and see what might work :)

Had not heard of that, looks like it´s easier to use than Nematodes. Might give it a go! Thanks mate!
They were a huge problem here 60 years ago.
Folks treated with Diazanon, a product no longer allowed.
Feels like they have spread more these days
Nooooo dont kill the craneflies!! Invite em in for a cup of coffee
Some of they do invite themselves in, but unfortunately for them the same fate await them inside the house 🙈
Fortunately we don't have these in the USA
wow really, i thought they were a worldwide bug
Google says there are 1600 species of Crane Fly in north America.
There all over the usa
They spread so fast!
I thought they were everywhere 🤔
