Same. Give us an idea of just how the body is tossed around. How close it gets to the reef. I’ve surfed and body surfed in Puerto Escondido and understand the power of the water, but being a beach break, I didn’t really fear having a big bail knowing there wasn’t a reef to get driven in to.

I'm a songwriter and wrote a song about my whole experience regarding that, which has stayed with me my whole life and will until I die. To think that certain young cats like Jamie, who lives his life on the beach and makes a nice income from it, well, I'm in awe of that. Wow....
My respect level for people surfing pipeline went ten fold after I attempted the wave. You can’t imagine this wave and the reef in that spot until you are in the lineup. Once it started picking up and the Volcom house started unloading I got out of there like a dog with it’s tail between its legs and as one of the few times in my life I’ve bailed on something I don’t regret that decision at all lol. Much respect for the north shore guys and girls! 🤙

Surfers are STILL at significant risk even if they "do hit their marks perfectly". Koa's insane wipeout is a perfect example. He made the drop, then saw the wave was closing-out, and bailed. Even the best surfers don't always know how a given wave is going to break. That includes Jaime O'Brien.

It's like the end of all badass 90s surf flicks lol. The only time I was ever in a surf vid was in a bail section. Still proud hahaha.
