From what I understand, Prelude to Light was basically something Uematsu scribbled together and was absolutely flabbergasted that audiences adored it. I am so glad you took time to highlight it, as even though fans love it, it always seems to escape talks of best Final Fantasy music. Also yes, that Playstation One start up sound is amazing. Wish I could set it for my PS5 start up sound.
Can't say I was expecting an hour long history lesson but I was pleasantly surprised. I do so like learning trivia, even if I'm not that great at retaining it.
ayee, very pleasantly surprised to see my footage for FF1-3. shout-out to Ali the fighter, Josh the thief, and Rem, Eric, and Sam the mages 😁 also 52:44 you thought you could sneak a Disney reference in the video without me noticing it, Jacob? no one in the room got it but I got it!!
Damn, how did I forget to respond to this? Yeah, I was waiting for you to see that I had used your footage for over two years lol, because I cut all this stuff back when Aidan and I did our first attempt at filming this playthrough. I was hoping you'd get to see it at some point. : )
The first time I ever played FF7, my first FF game, I was actually so confused by the wording of the message on Guard Scorpion that even after I got Tail Lasered repeatedly, I thought the problem was that I wasn't hitting it hard enough to prevent the attack or something. I returned the game to the store, unable to beat the first boss. Funny to look back on that with how much time I've put into the series since.
Just in the last two years or so I've played all the first seven FF games in some form of another. My least favorite of those is probably III --- not because I think it's bad, but because I found it generally forgettable. All the others have been very memorable for some reason or another though. And VII, for as much as some claim it's overrated, is absolutely one of my favorites. I think there are few games in the series I've played that have started so strong and then done such a good job keeping up their momentum from beginning to end.

That would be sweet
23:08 "Horses don't exist in Final Fantasy. Horses aren't real."
Sleipnir: "And I took that personally."

Seeing the old versions made me feel so nostalgic
