These videos are always fun to watch. I rented a Bobcat to dig my pond and position huge stones. Also rented one to dig fence posts for my 880’ foot fence, nothing work better nor faster.

Interesting work, I have never 'graduated' out of my sand box era, as I still can walk around and watch equipment like this work, all day.
    Thanks again, for this video

I am always amazed at the skill you have operating these machines. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to the weekend DIYers everywhere.

Rented T300 to clear woods and build road, got pretty good with machine, rented caterpillar, all hand controls, let's just say bucket slamming and ruff going for the first couple of hours. Great job clearing and leveling.

I agree the foot controls are easier at first, but once you get onto hand controls you won't want to go back. Im just a lot smoother and faster with the hand controls

Another great video. Personally, as long as you make an attempt to read the comments, I don't think people will go crazy if you don't respond 100% of the time. Can't wait to see that plot with grass on it.

Great video! I am thinking of getting a skid steer with a Danuser Intimidator next Spring.

Another Great Video Mike, Im learning the techniques that you are using to clean a large area i have in the back woods also. I know some of those root systems can be a pain and you need to use equipment which has more ability then the tractor...
    Keep well and God Bless....Chief

I love the old case 1845c with the hand controls i operated them for year's they're just an awesome machine i also like the foot controlled of the bobcats but the case's are by far better in my mind.

How about "as good with my feet as with my hands." My skid steer (Bobcat S175) has hand and foot controls. No issue because helicopters have tail rotor pedals. Enjoyed the video. Those teeth make a great rake when backing up, don't they? I put a rear view mirror in mine.

Wonder how one of those 3 point landscape rakes work on the roots one top instead of pushing all of that soil up with it a having a heck of a pile to deal with , I was thinking about using one in a place we cleared trees out of a couple years ago but it had a lot of big rocks didn't know how it would handle those put we have a farm in Indiana and we used our 15 foot ripper over it a few times and then every spring we disc it a plant sorghum in it is a good wildlife cover we about have all of the roots up getting slim to none now the deer have made many trails threw it from on woods to the other. Great videos enjoy seeing all the different equipment you get to run

    • @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans
      @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans  7 ปีที่แล้ว

I was going to use one but some of the roots were still stuck in the ground. I never liked making a big pile like that but then I realized it only takes a little over a year and it breaks down and makes nice top soil.

real good with the bobcat but if you could next time hire a 4 in 1 bucket with teeth, i find it alot easier to clear out roots and debris because you can pick them up and the roots will stay together and give it a shake and the dirt will fall right out, then it is a lot easier and cleaner job at the end, anyway just my opinion.

Looks nice, I need to do that at my place up north in Michigan, near a little town called Luther, which is about 15 miles north of Baldwin. What would your preferred peace of eq. Be that bobcat or your tractor, I have found a real nice machine like that bobcat, but I would like a tractor I think . I need to level off some areas around the yard, and I know that has much more power than a tractor. My main use would be to just keep things leveled off, Hull mulch, stone. The price of that machine like your bobcat has very low hrs, about 70 hp. For a real nice price

6000 subs, Mike you must be doing something right. Another great video. Just for interest have a look at the Mecalec MC 6 & MC 8 , I have never seen a more versatile machine and the're fast, track speed 35 kph ( dunno what that is in miles ) You would have to be a contractor to justify the expense but I want one anyway.

Curious if you thought about taking a first pass with a big metal hand rake to pull everything away from the tree bases into piles. Seems like it might be a little easier than trying to Austin Powers it back and forth around every tree :)

A lot of it was still attached to the ground, plus it was like 86 degrees out lol, Not hand rake weather lol

Thanks Mike. Just wondering where you gained your proficiency with earth moving equipment - Bob-Cat, Excavator. You're very good at it. Were you ever employed in a earth-moving job? Seems like this heavy equipment would take some time to learn. Dave

I worked in Heavy Highway construction for years but not as an operator. I was primarily a blaster (Blew things up for a living) however in that time I did run equipment on and off. Also when I was in high school I worked for a construction company in their yard. Got to run a little bit of everything. It always just came very easy for me for some reason

What's your day job Mike? Do you work machines like this for a living? I can drive a tractor fairly well, but I think one of those machines would take some practice to be as smooth as you make it look. Nice work!

That machine doesn't have a Kubota diesel engine, based on sound and exhaust size, I'm almost sure that machine is a 2014 or newer model, meaning its equipped with the new "bobcat brand" engine (which is complete junk btw) Since bobcat was bought out by Doosan years back, they decided to give up Kubota in 2014 and make all new FT4 machines equipped with a Doosan, (or bobcat as my dealer calls it) diesel engine.

Wish that i had the guts to rent a Skid Steer or Mini-ex and work on my little 5 acres. I’m just afraid that I’d screw up the machine or spend all the rental time trying to get the hang of operation.

    • @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans

A tracked skid steer is pretty easy to get the hang of pretty quick, just start slow, The mini hoe is a little more difficult but not to bad

Cool piece of equipment. I didn't see anything that you did with this piece of equipment that you couldn't have done with your Kubota. It seems if I was going to invest 40k in a Kubota with attachments I would not be chomping at the bit to spend $500/day to rent other equipment.

You may have missed the part where I talked about why I rented it. Watch the video before this one. I rented it to grade around my neighbors garage, when I was done with that I used it here. It took for hours at the neighbors, had I used the tractor it would have been 12 or more. Thats why
