    I have a 2012 Chevy Impala LTZ, and I have the traction control ABS warning lights and I tracked it down to the left side, driver side wire harness like you replaced on your car. It seems like the newer models are a problem on the left side I bought mine on “Rock Auto”, for $6.50 the wire harness I got to get to that this weekend to put on. A lot of people think it’s the wheel hub bearing but it’s not it’s usually more than likely that wire harness.
    UPDATE: replaced the wire harness and problem SOLVED!👍

      Pretty good price, yeah tell me about it I spent like 2 hours replacing the hub before figuring out it was the harness

      @@IGATECK yep, my Brother took his 2006 Impala to the Chevy dealer and of course they told him it was the wheel hub bearing and the wire harness and he spent well over 600+ dollars when in all reality it was probably just that wire harness! I hate going to any dealership if I can fix it myself because they will rob you blind!

    My 2009 Impala did the same thing. I replaced the accel pedal and fixed it. Later GM sent me a letter stating a recall. I sent them the code and receipt of the pedal and they sent me a check. This was 2 years ago.

    • @brucek8934
      @brucek8934 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 07 did it. Was driving my gf to pick my gf up from work an hour away & halfway there it happened so I took it easy continuing on & about 10 minutes from her work the car died on me.
      When I pulled over, the warning now stated engine DISABLED (not just @ HALF power) which I haven’t seen anyone else mention?... thought I was fucked & stuck.& didnt no weather to get out & walk or hope someone would pull over to help because I couldn’t even watch a video or something on possible solutions (temporary or otherwise), to convince it to possibly reconsider & start-up for me¡ Well after shutting it off & removing the keys & getting out & locking it up & then getting back in & attempting to restart it, one of those things MAGICALLY worked! & it restarted with the warnings gone except for a check engine light. & I picked GF up & we took it easy on hour drive home. It’s been two days since & it hasn’t came on so even with scan tool all I get is p2138 but not sure that’s it or that it’s actually correct readings because without the warnings on the scanner isn’t picking them up.
      OH, & did I mention, it was in an area with NO cell phone service & it was 15° that night! (Thanks GM😘, love ya babe!)
      I bought a throttle position sensor for $53, haven’t installed it yet because more people saying it’s the Accelerator Pedal Sensor so I’m at AutoZone buying the Duralast one now but 3 questions if anyone sees this....
      1.) Should I start by replacing Accelerator Pedal Sensor first & then if it doesn’t work install TPS? That way if it’s not TPS I can return the TPS?!
      2.) should I just return the TPS because it’s not that?
      3.) WILL GM GIVE ME A REFUND CHECK FOR THE APS, TPS, or BOTH on my 2007 IMPALA?
      - & will they still even if my AutoZone only carries the Duralast part, not they ACDELCO(OEM)?
      The code that came up for check engine light is p2138 which is the Accelerator Pedal Sensor, but I don’t know if that’s actually it or actually the only thing wrong or if it’s both, because the Service Traction Control & engine @ half power warnings haven’t came back on since I was able to get the car restarted.
      I also for shits n gigs., bought bottle of that transmission sealer that is split in half with a sealer & like conditioner & is said to gaurantee seal, condition, & protect as well as help with knocking & hard shifts & rough idle... all of which I’m having & wonder if associated with the ASP or TPS or both. & a can of throttle body cleaner & electrical parts cleaner hoping to spray in contacts that meet one or both sensors & especially if I do end up replacing TPS I’ll spray throttle body cleaner inside the throttle body & WHIPE it out. Assuming I have to remove the hose/duct work. I don’t see why I would it looks like metal clamps/clips all that hold it on & appears accessible without removing all that but ever TH-cam video ive seen doing it all removed the duct work for some reason. It’s like if I’m getting in that deep might as well waste my money in a complete throttle body then with the TPS coming attached with it? HELP she has to work in the morning again hour away & needs to take the car herself & its 7:15pm Sunday night & she’ll be driving by herself this time

    I've got an 08 and was showing same thing so i changed tps after diagnostic test said that was the issue. Before fixing tho, it was also kinda chugging and acting like power or gas was getting to where it needed to be going. Almost sounding and acting like it was wanting to die or struggling to stay on. Changed the tps and still doing the same thing. Changed plugs and wires and air filter as well as cleaned the throttle body. So I'm gonna try the pedal now but possibly could it be fuel pump or something else? Any thoughts or suggestions would be awesome and appreciated.

    Code p2138: from A1 Auto video on 'Top five problems with Chevy impala 9th Gen 2006-16." #4 is the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. Just happened to me: going 70 mph in cruise control when suddenly the dash said, "Service Traction Control" and "Reduced Engine Power" with a CEL symbol and the Traction Control triangle symbol. However, the car seemed to be running fine, except cruise control stopped. I stopped, turned off the car for ten minutes, and the dash no longer said those words. But the Check Engine symbol stayed on. I got home, and six hours later, none of the words or the CEL symbol is showing.
    I watched a few videos, read a few forums. Ranged from: Wheel Bearings, ABS module, ABS Sensors, cleaning ABS sensors, Throttle Position Sensor and Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. So, eight hours after it happened, just before 9 p.m., I got in the car to drive to O'Rielys to use their code reader, and nothing was on the dash, not even the CEL symbol. Car ran fine.
    O'Reilys code reader said: p1238, "Throttle Position Sensor." But, I'm going to replace the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (the whole pedal as in this video) not with the OEM Delco, but a Dorman at $120. BTW: if it isn't solved, I'll check back in and edit my comment. The "symptoms" I might have had leading to this was a weird issue with acceleration from a dead stop to just getting rolling with a sudden burst or a 'hesitation' until it got to 3-5 mph and smoothed out. I thought it was transmission and had an appt scheduled. Then, this happened. So, maybe that was symptoms of a bad pedal sensor?
    On the way home from O'Rielys I bought a six pack to 'celebrate' for not having any more serious issue. Then, on the way home, a damned black and white cat ran in front of my car. If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Poor cat.

    We had the engine power reduce problem and my car would shut off when driving on the freeway and that got very dangerous so I checked around and found out I didn't have to buy a peddle or the throttle body all I bought was the throttle position sensor and my car is running great so if anyone is still having problems with the engine reduce power just buy the TPS that's all you'll need it only takes about 15 minutes to replace

      I've got an 08. Was acting like it was chugging at stop lights and when accelerating it would jerk like it wasnt getting power.took it for diagnostic and it said tps sensor. So i changed the tps, spark plugs and wires, along with air filter....that was about 3 wks ago. Now it's doing the exact same thing it was before all this shit was replaced. Engine light is on till i hit 60mph then blinks and the rpm needle jumps a bit when the chugging or jerking hits. Now i guess ill try the pedal now. Almost wondering too if fuel pump could be an issue maybe??? Alternator is fine and battery connection is fine. Idles rough and gets a weird vibration when on interstate over 60 mph.... Any thoughts? Oh yeah, cleaned throttle body too. Lol thx and after fixing everything I'm gonna get rid of it. Owned for two years now And have had more issues with this pos then with any car old or new ive owned in past! Gm really sucks and need to get their shit together i think. I'm going back to foreign cars again. Haha

      We bought a 09 impala also about 6 months ago and started having problems just recently with the engine reduce power so I watched carquestions and found out i needed to replace just the ( TPS )throttle position sensor and not the holes throttle body cause of course it's so much more but after I fixed it and it only takes 15 minutes to replace yourself, our car runs great no more problems not sure if that's going on with yours but if it is that's all you have to change you won't be spending a lot of money I do know it gets very expensive

      Sorry for the late reply, there are different things that would trigger this fault besides the gas pedal and another common one like previously mentioned is the throttle position sensor

    • @mikalhernandez
      @mikalhernandez 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Start cheap. Clean the gunk out of the throttle body where the butterfly meets the throttle body housing first. This is usually all it takes. Afterward, you may have a high idle for a couple of hundred miles until the computer relays that the butterfly is returning to the default position, so don't let anyone tell you to pay a mechanic to do it. Totally unnecessary.
