- From Colonel Delp's Country Music Corral on W100, Today's WIOO COuntry Gold Radio sometime around August 24th in the late 1970's, It's the Colonel's Birthday Show. He passed away from a vehicle accident February 4th, 1978.
I saved this show from a cassette tape that Gene Knisely had, it was copied from a reel to reel. This may be one of the only surviving pieces of local radio and music history from this station and time, as WIOO burned down due to an electrical fire in 2012 and according to Ray Thomas, the stations program director, said they lost everything in the fire.
I made this video In Memory of Colonel Charles Delp, Brother Bob “Bobby Boy” Trimmer, Frank "Blue Eyes" Ott, Dusty Jim Bailey, Johnny Baer, Glen "Chicken" Knisely, Donnie Lehman, Bucky Keck, Johnny Hippensteel, Little Bonnie and all the other folks that performed within variations of The Blue Mountain Ridge Runners over the years. May time never forget you all!
I have heard of these characters all my life. Their lives, stories, music and memories have made a big impact on me.
