No matter the player, golf the engine moves the car. When people practice
you master skills such as walking, talking, eating and sleeping.
People think with the right club I can play like people who've been playing golf all of their lives. What makes you great is your commitment
to game. Practice and feel make great
    players, just do that...
Enjoyed this video and the content, but Nike over rode this wave and got
stuck with memories as did Ping, before them. Thanks. David E. Riley

awesome documentary Anaks, Now I commented on the Rick Shiels video and imo, I think Nike tried too hard in the golf hardware department with trying to compete with other sports, IE they had Basketball, Athletics, Soccer (Football over here in the UK) and just couldn't keep up with the other manufactures. Another reason I think they didn't take off was that didn't stick with the one name in their lines ie like Titleist have with the Pro V line.
Saying that I loved the Frank adverts they were as funny as hell and at least he's doing well 15 Major wins and 5 Green Jackets and is the most popular for Daphnes Headcovers.
My entire top end of my Golf bag is full of Nike gear still I have the Covert and the Vapor Fly 3 & 5 wood and the Covert 2.0 Tour 4 hybrid while I still use the tour platinum ball from time to time and have a Vrpro GW and everclear putter.
keep up the great work and stay save and good Golf ^_^

Thanks for watching and the kind words, David! That’s awesome to hear! I definitely agree about sticking to one name. That could’ve helped distinguish themselves better. Stay safe and good golf with those vintage clubs and balls too! I used to love playing with the tour platinum :)

    • @anaks247
      @anaks247  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks for watching! Yeah, they could've gained a good market share in hybrids since that segment was still somewhat new in the early 2000s. Though even then, Adams had already distinguished themselves there. Also, Taylormade's rescue, Cobra's baffler, and my personally favorite, Snake Eyes' quick strike were still more memorable then Nike's CPRs.

No one ever mentions the 2017 vapor strike line . I believe it would of saved the company. Vapor line was great , and more valuable then ever before now. 2,000$ for a 2 iron. 800$ for 5-PW fly pros etc . Almost 9 years old now

  • @miguelitoaniceto5882

The game itself hasn’t done itself any favors. $500 drivers. $2000 irons how do you grow the game when you keep making it harder to access. I’ve been playing for over 3 decades now and the game just keeps getting more inaccessible. The next big challenge for golf is how to bring the average person back. It’s only going to get harder once Tiger leaves the game for good…

Nike should have stayed in the biz. Losing money or not. It’s not easy to get to a place they are. All that R&D went to waste. They should’ve stayed longer in any capacity. It’s not like they don’t have the money to drag it on.

I had the original driver, loved it. The blades are still worth a pretty penny. I feel like they jumped into the deep end too quickly. The should of just started with a few clubs then work there way in. Nike Golf never made a profit because they spent their money on advertising and player's contracts.

Good video. It's a shame they stopped just after they started making clubs I liked. I had a covert tour driver that was really good. Then I had a Vapor pro, which was the best overall driver I've had to that point. It wasn't the longest, but I hit a ton of fairways with that one. The fly pro was essentially the same driver , but launched a bit higher, which added a bit more distance. I was really looking forward to the next model, but then it was over. I liked the RZN balls also, and I'm glad to find out that they are being manufactured again, without the swoosh, by rzngolf.

  • @majormaccas

It's probably immeasurable, but I wonder what orphaned market this has created for the other golf brands. I started like a lot of people watching Tiger, and probably wouldn't have ever had an interest in golf otherwise. I bought my custom measured VR Pro Combo irons in 2010-ish, with VR driver, Red Cart Bag etc. Since Nike don't make clubs anymore, I'm looking at Callaway gear for replacement. So that's one customer Callaway have due to Nike Golf.

Tom Stites must carry a dark cloud over him because the businesses he's operated out of, Nike Golf and Ben Hogan, those club makers have gone out of business. The thing is: there's nothing wrong with the clubs. I think the pockets on the long irons is phenomenal and I love the look and grooves.

Nike golf apparel is my go to brand. For golf clothing, I only wear Nike and Under Armour. Why ? Because those are youth/sporty/laid back brands + Nike golf apparel is almost a luxury brand now (almost seen as, as their new releases are always featured on hype newsblogs and luxury webshops). And they always sold out. I just feel weird and "old" wearing Callaway or Footjoys apparels (except for Footjoy's shoes), almost like if I was trying too hard. While I feel GREAT with the swoosh on my polo on the golf course.

I’ll put this out there, but could it have been that they just put way too much money in player endorsements and advertising? Just what they’ve paid Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods alone is enough to bankrupt them. And INHO, none of their golf products ever lived up to all the hype. I owned a couple pairs of golf shoes that didn’t last no time. One pair the sole came completely off in less than 6 months. I never could gain any confidence in their balls. Most golf friends I know, including myself, consider Nike balls trash balls and nobody will hit them. I think Nike dug their own grave with Nike golf.

I think you should include more of you analytic skills and create an interactive visual dashboard of the different companies profit over a 20 year timeline and include the number of golf courses per year and the number of rounds played per year.
