    if you have a plan when you lease then it's not a scam its a starting point.. especially if you do not have the capital. Use them for business exp then finance your own truck.
    At prime especially team lease trucks are the ideal move to make

The visitor price above the window I forgot how much that is. The painted color matched front bumper and black grill is about $345.00. The passenger side access under the bunk is about $600.00

      Great question! I am new to trucking, so lease is going to be a brand new thing for me. If you can keep track of your expenses and save money, Leasing should go smooth for you.
      The things that may be an issue for you are using a Qualcomm and submitting paperwork. The Qualcomm is no necessary hard to use, but it requires patience. Submitting paperwork is easy as well, it’s all done through the Prime app, but I would recommend for you to feel comfortable with those two things before jumping into lease.
      I want to make a video that explains lease vs company. But I really can’t be loud and obnoxious in my room. So I will be making it when I jump in the truck😉.

A four day orientation then go to success leasing to check on truck availability. Orientation and success leasing are in bldgs about a mile and a half apart so they have a company shuttle van to help move everyone around that runs from 5 or 6am till midnight I believe.

    Tips for how you go about inspecting

    • @Peruviantrucker
      @Peruviantrucker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Treat it as a pretrip to begin with. When starting the truck pay attention to how long it takes cranking before it starts. Request the repair history on the truck and examine it to see what has been done to it. Double check repairs on the truck. Inspect the interior and exterior for smells and signs of damage. Make sure you notate all the imperfections so they don’t charge you for them later.
      If you are going to go lease I’d recommend you try to get the newest truck you can get. It may cost a bit more but you might like the peace of mind that comes with it😉. If you are planning to do lease purchase soon, maybe a truck that it’s nearing its contract is more convenient for you. But you are taking a gamble on reliability if it’s high mileage.
      Hope this helps

    Dont listen to thoe nay sayers i bought a 2015 cascadia and paid it off and it wasn't even new, the lease program works if you work and the newer trucks are way better than the older ones cuz they get way better gas mileage, plus if u get a new 1 you get a warranty so take my advice and put 20 cents per mile in your maintenance account and you will have 50 grand in there by the time your warranty is up, and get a freightliner the dd15 is by far the best motor right now and when things bring down on a freightliner its well past the life expectancy of the part.

      I understand ur being picky and cautious but the point is to find a good truck, get dispatched and get out of there and start getting pd. Make sure the basics are good and operate properly. Tires, coolant, ac, oil level, all lights. Make sure the idle shutdown keeps the truck running for the summer. Drive it around make sure it doesn't pull left or right. 66k miles is low miles for the truck. Don't be too picky. Small details you don't like can be fixed later. Especially if they only have a few trucks and a handful of people looking at the same time. The best thing you can do is look at all the trucks available at the same time not just the one they give you. Find ur top two or three and let them know you'll take it if someone passes on it. Be proactive. They gave me four trucks to look at. I parked them next to each other and ran each one thru my checklist at the same time. I ended up taking a 19 international bc it had the best drive tires by far and the idle shutdown was turned off. All three had roughly 300k miles. And the internationals were on sale bc no one wanted them. I still have it. Good luck.

    Prime is one of the worst places to lease a truck. They tried every trick in the book to get me off the company side in 08' but I wouldn't budge. They cut my truck down from 65 to 58 due to declining fuel mileage then 2 weeks later brought me in and turned it down to 55. A week of that then went home. On home time I made up my mind and cleaned it out. Called them up first thing Monday morning and told them to either get me a load directly back to Springfield or I was gonna deadhead back up there to drop the truck off. Was there 10 months and was never charged for CDL training since I didn't fulfill a full year on the contract. That was back when we ran paper and manuals. Not this garbage. My step dad leased a FLD120 there in 01' and that damn thing kept breaking down in the couple months he was there. Finish out what ya need to and run away as fast as you can. Robert Low is a crook. You can pay monthly what he charges in a week and a half to two weeks lease payments. By the time you're done paying on that truck, you will have paid nearly double what its worth. Wonder if they still make the lease drivers pay for reefer fuel.

    • @coloradotrucker8279
      @coloradotrucker8279 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So you are basing your opinion on what happened back in 08? That was a long time ago. Prime has not once convinced me to go lease and I started out as a company driver. I did company for 5 months before I jumped into a lease and glad I did. It helped me learn the business side of things. It sounds like from your statement that you couldn't manage your fuel costs and that is why prime did what they did. It has nothing to do with prime at all. Their is a reason prime has you governed. I lease now and do very well with prime. I don't care to own the truck as I don't want the responsibility of owning a truck. It will cost just as much as a house to own a truck and trailer and be able to fork out the cost for all the permits and licenses needed to get started. Not everyone has the credit or the funding to be able to do this. Everyone who discredits prime because they think it's primes fault for their failure doesn't want to take the blame for their own mistakes. They just want to blame it on prime.
