    Mark, I appreciate the show but why is it that UK content makers are more and more showing us what they can do with large calibre FAC rated airguns. Considering (by a huge margin) most airgun users in the UK will be using sub 12ft-lb rifles in either .22 or .177 calibre. With sub 12 rifles it is the fieldcraft and accurate range assessment mostly within 30 meters of your quarry as a maximum. Let’s see a bit more of what the normal airgunner in the UK needs to do.

      To appeals to the US audience or to show something different, new and engaging.
      Either way, I enjoy seeing some high end kit but also like to watch people out with a sub 12ftlb springer occasionally too!

      I know what you mean, I'm not sure how I feel about having to have several thousand pounds worth of gear to hunt a rodent...where will it end....drone strikes from the comfort of an armchair😅

      Yes I agree and will try and get more sub 12ftlb stuff coming in 😉 I was actually thinking the same and think this might be the last episode with the Brocock sniper as I think it’s due to be returned anyhow 👍

    Bit of mixed grill there! I live on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors and around the fields where I live rabbits seem to be as rare as hens teeth and I love a rabbit for the pot but I only eat them if I’ve shot them as I’m a tad fussy like that, I like to see what I’m eating if you get my drift!

    Another great vid. I like the FAC content but it does make me a bit green with envy 😀 I noted your comment about the lid on the feeder and the greys not having sussed out lifting it yet. I'm lucky to do grey squirrel control in an area with reds and have noticed that the reds are much quicker to work out lid lifting than the greys. Maybe I just have less intelligent greys 😆

    I've been shooting Pheasant and Rabbit for years for game, I currently have a .177 Gas ram rated 11.7 IBft and a .22 springer with a rating of 11.5Ibft. I'm keen to start shooting squirrels for game but I have never shot a squirrel and have a mantra that I will only kill what I am going to eat and would like a clean kill and really don't know what calibre rifle would be best. , I have also been told that squirrels have really thick skulls and are tough little buggers! so I really don't want Mr Nutz running about injured full of lead because I've used the wrong Rifle and pellets Any advice is welcome!

    • @260rips
      @260rips ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As with most things airgun related shot placement is key and a well placed shot with any calibre at sensible range will do the job. Squirrels are indeed very tough so probably the best airgun I have used for them is a .25 in an fac version. If you don’t have an fac I would probably favour the .22 personally but everyone has their own opinions on air rifle calibers!

    • @channex8179
      @channex8179 ปีที่แล้ว

      @260rips I bought a ATA Arms Airborne about a month ago in .22 for the task of Squirrels, Not tried it yet but will be doing. Am I best going for head behind the eye or chest through the lungs I'm an above average shot so can place them where they need to be.

    Great shooting, as vastly different technique and ability is required as you explained,to successfully spot and stalk squirrels in an open woodland, versus the fixed range of a feeder getting their attention. I also like the superior despatch authority of that 25cal ensuring clean and humane kills. Lastly, your videos are so pleasant to watch and hear the natural woodland sounds and underfoot compared to so many who have mostly banal, intrusive and inappropriate music playing at various levels of intensity. I’m out most days on crop protection etc and have never heard music being played whilst in the field, so I really question the spoiler effect need of it, on so many otherwise entertaining videos.

    • @dyltwinful

      They are an invasive specie to the uk, they cause damage to nesting birds and also to woodlands in the uk.they are also the cause of making the red squirrels that used to flurish in the uk go rare and almost extinct,its because the carry a disease called parapoxvirus and this can kill they red. The reason we control and shoot the greys is to try introducing the red squirrels back so they can thrive again.. and just to be clear we do not shoot red squirrels in the uk, only grey. Every one is entitled to their opinions on everything but its nice to know that you would also like to know the reason on doing what we do 👍

      Squirrels do a lot of damage to trees to the extent they can kill the tree, they also predate the nests of songbirds.
      In areas where there are still numbers of our native red squirrel, grey squirrels need to be culled to prevent them transmitting squirrel pox to them and wiping them out completely, hope this answers your question
