Konica Minolta AccurioPress C3070 Review

- This is just my opinion on this digital press. Its been a bit over two months since I got this AccurioPress. Many other manufacturers make good digital presses too, so Xerox, Cannon and Ricoh people relax. I have had good luck with Konica machines and they are easy to service yourself too. If I had too much money i would get an HP Indigo in the blink of an eye but I just cannot justify that.
Every time I crunch the numbers it makes more sense to have multiple smaller machines that one large digital press. But what do I know, I'm Just A Printer. Subscribe and you will see more reviews of this machine as time goes on.

I used to have a C8000. I realized the larger faster machines were not tanks like my old C6500. So I went back to the basics. Slow and steady wins the race. I'm nearing 500k clicks and had only two total calls.
I've known accounts to run 130K in 2 days on a new install. The most common causes for service calls are "dirty" power and out of spec paper. Even for paper within spec some papers just feed better than others. Once you find one that works for you, stick with it. Your Mykmbs.com portal should show you actual up time and mean time/clicks between service calls. Third most common cause of problems are machines that aren't worked hard enough. The more you run them, the better they like it. If they sit idle a lot or so short runs very quickly then wait you might be better off with a slower engine. No science behind the comment, just an observation over many years.
@@justaprinter the old KM corporate print shop in Windsor, CT used C6500 and C8000 I swear the C8000 was down all the time, the house tech constantly repairing it, but that C6500 is a tank! Much like the old 7135 monochrome machine, I had one of them as my personal all in one for 8 years - some KM models are amazing

Ask your rep to get an exception to the 1 set toner problem. I've seen them authorize multiple sets, especially for high volume printers. It may take a call to the Service VP, but it can be done. They want you able to print as much as you can. I know of accounts that even keep spare belts and rebuild kits on hand at customer's sites to limit the supplies carried by the techs and to insure rapid service and up time.
Shoot, you have been around the block. I now can order 3 sets at a time. Its all good now.

These are pretty good machines. We have a c3060 out in the field and I am the only one that works on it. And what I have found is every time I got a E code, I would have to start replacing boards. And this is all done per Konica support. Other then that it was a pretty good machine. It has over 2 million copies on it and still going strong.

Hi Man I appreciate you explained alot of things on your video.. Iam interest to know what paper do you use for a glossy printed book say 100 pages 100gsm. Not to glossy but similar look and feel.
I use Flo paper which is made by Sappi

Hi Dan, i would like to know more about this c3070 setup. Does it come with a saddle stitch? Because when I proposed to have a post inserter tray setup to my KM dealer, they said your setup is the finisher of saddle stitch with post inserter.
Yes, this 3070 has a saddle stitcher. I would recommend the more powerful saddle stitcher like is on my 1070. Then you can print 13 x 19 to the receding tray.
I've recently started a small print business, mostly doing large format and heat presses (sublimation/ DTF). Looking to add an inexpensive entry-level paper printing machine, been going through forums and few people recommended xerox c60. Would you recommend it?
can i use that calibrator on c2060, Sir?
Or.is there any options of that kind of calibrators because color in my c2060 was not so good?
You use the calibrator with the Fiery and Creo RIP.
How do you switch or remove tray 3,4 or 5 on the C3070? The pulley that holds the up-down string is broken & I need to try to replace it? I have the new pulley but it is not as simple hooking it to through the bar & latching it with the pulley. 🤔
I don't know, I never did that repair.

hi dan. Is the konica c3070 printer good for 350 paper? having trouble printing on thick paper? Do you have any suggestions when printing thick paper?
Yes, It will print 350 gsm. I don't print much though. If you have problems you can run one side at a time.

Maybe some one can help me here. On my C3070 im printing PVC sheet and have lots of toner that coat the lower fusing roller. If i then print plain paper it will stick to the lower fusing roller and make a paper jam afther the first jam i will have a couples of sheet with the back coated with this left over toner. What setting could be changed to help me fix this ?
Not sure, I don't print PVC. Maybe adjust fuser temp?
Air fed trays means I guess perfect paper to paper registration? Or just better handling of different stocks, less paper jams...? What margins does it require on a paper, I'm thinking it cant print borderless...
Air fed trays are great for coated stocks that stick together. I'll have to check on the borderless printing. I think the lead edge will always have a border, otherwise the paper would stick the the fuser rollers.
The PF-707m paper feed unit, with air and vacuum assist, is for better handling of coated and cover stocks. Duplex alignment and sheet-to-sheet alignment is handled by the registration swing mechanism in the marking engine, that ensures that every sheet is centered and squared before being imaged upon.
Hmm, so I need to rethink this, as I was thinking of the way a Heidelberg offset press is handling the paper. Compared to that... this air fed probably means still friction fed with a fan blowing air at the top sheets, but on the other hand, Steve calls it air and vacuum assist so it might be more than that. I am just happy with how my ricoh handles the paper most of the time, and I do throw at it some thick double coated silk, laminated on one side (again with silk film) that I struggle to pick up the first sheet on the pile. Dont ask me why... :D Come to think of it... I wonder how the air fed system works on your collator, you mentioned you went with air fed instead of friction fed collator.
@@liviuc1946 The collator and the Konica air fed are similar. Collator has a vacuum wheel that advances the top sheet and air blowing at the same time. Konica air feed is a vacuum belt that advances the top sheet and air blowing in at the same time.

My Konica Minolta contract they first had it set to charge double the click charge for 11x17. I had them quickly change that. Now any size sheet is a single click

Sounds like a problem with your paper settings. Make sure you select the paper you want to print to in the Fiery.

Could be dirt on cornoa wires. Swap two colors and see if it moved.

Sure, it can run for 3 days. Cost depends on where you live, contact your local rep.
What's the best type of paper you use for books?
Most book I print are on a 60lb uncoated text.

Unsure, I currently have one at over 8 million clicks. They should last forever as long as you have parts.

Depends what you can negotiate and what your volumes are. Most get about $0.04-$0.05 for color and around 1 cent for black.

Depends where you live.
The only problem is 2side print is not perfect.
It can vary a bit especially on heavy paper. But it stays pretty close.
