Cool stuff love watching these videos, great editing an very informative. Just started with American Fence in South Dakota and trying to learn as much as I can so thank you. 🇺🇸
Dan, can those be adapted to close my wooden screen door? We have a screened-in porch. It protects us from flies and skeeters. Any hole or opening invites hordes of pests. Unfortunately, my grandsons are notoriously negligent in closing the screen door when they use it. That provides a veritable thoroughfare for vermin. We also have an alley cat who thinks she’s a house cat. It is bad enough that we have to look out for her every time we walk out of the garage door. But, she lies in wait for the first second the screen door is cracked. When it is, she charges at it like an east bound bull with turpentine on his…. West End dangles. Dan, you do realize that a person of my advanced age can scarcely take a chance on tumbling down the back porch stairs. Don’t you? I mean, a broken leg or hip at my age… and I would have to be ‘put down’. With one of those dandy gate closers the flies, skeeters and demonic feline spawn could easily be kept at bay…. without me having to yell at my grandsons At least that is what I’m a thinkin’! Please advise asap. Back porch season is coming!
Station one of the grandchildren at the back door on duty for the day. Rotate them out throughout the week. If they fall asleep on duty you may have to resort to a light poke when you walk by.
Sassafras, this closer may be a bit overkill for a household storm/screen door, oddly that you mentioned this because when I had someone installing a Larson 159 (hidden closer storm door) I had to show the installer how to install and adjust the closer. after he was done, I shown him my Jackson 20-330 and told him he is lucky I didn’t t ask him to install a Jackson in the frame above door instead! If in theory you were to put a Jackson on a storm door, you would have to modify the household doorframe to accommodate the closer if wanted it to look like it was installed in a storefront door opening. Now this same method used on the gate on a household storm door, if you had it put in exact same way as the gate, you would have bugs coming in at the closer area due to the way the gate is hung (center pivot hinge) as compared to butt or offset hinges, best het for a screened in porch is something like a Ryobi doorman if you want a hydraulic closer. Hope this helps
You can use a Gravity hinge but this is found to be a lot more effective in a cleaner look. This will actually meet specifications versus a Gravity hinge. 👍🏻
For a vehicle gate? You can add a wired access box to your spooky system that will open with an emergency responder signal. You'll have to check with your local fire & police to see what they use and what you need to wire in.

I use hydraulic closers on all pedestrian gates. Even pool fence gates. Never had a problem or callback
Dan great videos should do a video showing how to install panic bar on commercial chainlink gates and get mark to make more videos also thanks
Panic Bar! You got it! 👍🏻👍🏻
Do yal ever use the d&d bad ass self closing hinge? I like the hinges in general but I find the single closure they give in the box is never enough
We've never used them.
This closer is very similar to the Jackson 20-330 or Dorma RTS-88 accept adapted to be used on a gate

@@JLD902 good point… I don’t want the gap!
actually, I just put a screen door spring on it! LOL
Thanks!
Why not just use a gravity hinge … good thinking tho. Interesting hinge

Looks lie an improvement over a chain and weight.
