This is the best Tarantino interview I've ever watched so far.. and man Tom Snyder, how come I didn't know about him before..

Tom was never uber famous like Carson or Letterman but was a well respected TV staple

He was great. I've seen some Howard Stern, he's terrible. Rich Eisen is good, too.

@@stevethomas2285 oh Stern's interviews are certainly garbage. I'd recommend Marc Maron but he's reeeaaally hit or miss

Never heard of it? Yikes. Letterman basically was carrying on the Carson tradition of excellence. Started out as a comic which is where he got his comedy chops. Best part I liked about Letterman is the enunciation and attention to detail. Class act.

I love the answer he gave for "what was in the suitcase" (14:14 - 14:58). Feels like a nuanced way of breaking the fourth wall. It sort of explains why the audience tends to take a lot of ownership of the narrative in his films, in terms of each person having a very personal experience with the different narratives. Thank you, Quentin Tarantino.

I love how Quenton says "I didn't go to directing school, whatever that would be, I didn't go to writing school, whatever that would be" (2:26). He says this after saying he went to acting school.........whatever that would be.

I agree that things have gotten way too far into a PC culture and people are far too sensitive. That said, I don't think that joke would offend people, even today. People would have to do some major mental gymnastics to find something in that joke that offends them. I'm sure they'd try though, people look for things to offend them, they love to be offended. lol

15:09 According to Quentin, "Reservoir Dogs" is a hybrid of The French New Wave film and the 70s American Exploitation film. The “Reservoir” represents the French New Wave crime films and the “Dogs” is from Sam Peckinpah's film Straw Dogs.

Notice that Quentin never discussed his new movie here, whereas these days it's the exact opposite. And watching this I want to believe that he genuinely wanted to be on Tom's show, he was relaxed and open to conversation. For me what's hilarious is the fact that I never liked the movie From Dusk to Dawn, and that is a kind assessment...( laughing ). This along with John Lennon and Harlin Ellison are perhaps my favorite guests that he had on.
    Goodnight Tom
