Know the steering clutch valve works off the main clutch oil on a d20. If it’s the same check the oil level and oil screen on the bell housing they are known to get plugged and lose steering.
I did. no know that . I will Check it today !! Brother I appreciate any ideas because I have done everything including new steering clutches. I do think it’s the hydraulic pressure causing issues. I will let you know if that helps
@@jamesgray2435 brother mine was really low !!! I Thought everything ran off the big hydraulic tank . Lol !! Well it turns now, but you gotta pull hard. I think now it’s out of adjustment, all my linkage arms.
My owners manual says. Tighten adjustment nut to a clamping torque of 5 kg.m so that the liner comes into Tight contact with the drum. Make sure lining is in close contact by stepping on pedal. Unsure adjustment nut one turn. 5 kg.m = 36 ft/lbs let me know if this works for you.
A lot of these machines come with wide swamp tracks. They will ruin the clutches on hard ground, maybe even sand. It took only 6-months to damage my D31-P in NE, Pa. Why ? because those wide track will not slip on hard ground so, the clutches slip. Twenty years ago the Komatsu Dealer would change the clutches if I took them out, for 14K. My machine only had 1000 hours on it when I got it and paid 17 K and another 300 dollars to move it 300 miles. I than bought new clutches for almost 3K at dealer and installed them with my wife's help. I found a local guy to replace undercarriage for 5K. Used it to build a 3-acre watershed pond. Have 3500 hours on it now. Hardest think I find is getting those darn cylinders apart. I have the worthless tool for $400.00. Don't work because of a welded fitting at end of cylinder. Can't go all the way on in center. I use a 6" pipe wrench with a twelve foot cheater bar & my son-in-law with me hanging on the end. Once you get it apart, it will come apart without a big deal the next 15 years. I replaced all but on gland. On the topic of will not turn. You need a inch-pound torque wrench to adjust the clutch break band. The procedure is in the owners manual.
I was using my dozer today and was looking at my notes. I changed the undercarriage at 2500 hours and the clutches the same time. But I was thinking if I knew what I know today about the swamp track ? I would use a cut off wheel and cut a few inches off both sides of the track. That would prevent the clutches from wearing out. I remember trying to get one of the track off. Two people on a six foot pipe and nothing. The guy that changed them saved all the old ones for me. I am sure, he had a super good impact gun.
Did you get her working? Mine wouldnt turn on one side hardly, ended up putting new beefed up springs on the steering clutches and she turns like a newone
Well I got it going but it’s still hard to turn. You got to pull hard on the levers to turn it. I’m going to try to adjust everything this weekend, I bleed all the air out of my hydraulic system. It may be the springs !! I never tested the strength of them. I know it’s pissing me off. !! Lol
@@TheOutdoorLivingChannel yessir you mine as well man, I'd replace everyone one it with beefy'r stronger ones, I even added a extra one that I hooked in from behind the clutch pedal cleavis straight back to a bracket I could hook it to and it helped out a bunch to assure they dont stick and the pedal releases all the way, these machines are known for this issue man and grease the slides and channels where it slides back and fourth on the steering clutch bracket thing to they're very temperamental. I was having the same issue, I was getting the smallest little turns and wouldnt turn worth a lick, brakes wernt fully releasing cause springs wernt strong enough anymore
I think you might be right ! I took my lines off yesterday and hardly any fluid came out. Its been cold these past few days but I will try that soon and let you know how it goes
You cannot adjust the bands in this bulldozer. It uses big springs in the clutch pack that holds them tight. No way to adjust them . Also it’s turning now. It was a hydraulic problem

Hope it helps. I think my d20 calls for 10w in the main clutch case, which runs the steering clutches. Let me know what u come up with.

Noticed you have new track pads- where did you find the best place to purchase? Thanks!
310 to 330 psi to engage clutches. A bypass on a control valve or somewhere.

If that doesn't work. Your couches are not disengaging. Good luck. Hope this helps.
Did you ever figure out the problem?? Having the same issue
Yes my filter was clogged in my transmission, check your transmission fluid levels, and check your brake adjustment nuts. Mine works great now !

Man it looks like the brake isnt releasing all the way like mine was doing, get you about a inch or so shorter/beefy'r springs and see whatchu get
I'd replace all them springs my guy they're definitely worn

Try bleeding the system

@Crazy Security Camera Videos I have an old komatsu d65e and some days the steering works fine and other days no steering until I bleed the system

Your adjustment specs are incorrect. I worked for Binder Machinery for ten years. Check your band adjuster specs.
